Con' Olio Oils & Vinegars — Local services in Austin

My husband and I came here for a Google Local event. We never would have thought to stop in, if not for the event, but we are so glad we did! This place is amazing!

It's an entire store of nothing but olive oils, vinegars, wines, and items that go along with those things. The owners will take you though an olive oil and vinegar tasting. I know that sounds really weird, but it was actually really great! You get a tiny cup and you just slurp the olive oil back over your tongue. Because this is excellent quality olive oil, you don't get that coated, oily feeling in your mouth that you would expect. And the difference in taste between this excellent, fresh oil and the oil you get at the supermarket will Blow. You. Away.

While you're tasting, the owners will describe to you the difference between the oil they sell and the oil sold at supermarkets (and basically anywhere that's not a specialty oil shop). Once you hear that difference described, you'll understand why it tastes so incredibly much better than any olive oil you've ever had.

Go here or to the one downtown. Do the olive oil tasting and the vinegar tasting. It's a super-fun activity that you'll be glad you did, and I guarantee you'll decide to bring some of this excellent stuff...

Gotta keep it 100 on this. Went in. All the taps were sticky. Thats not the problem. The woman who works there wouldnt leave me alone. I'm trying to talk, she's lingering. I'm trying to read. She's lingering. Like GIRL, gimme some space. Then she's like "WELL IF YOU NEED ANYTHING I CAN HELP YOU". I'm like cool. So I start checking it out. Woman doesnt know I'm a cook. Not a problem. Problem comes when she starts talking to me about whats going on. She becomes condescending. She starts explaining down to me what the oil was and I have to tell her what polyphenols or binophenols. I ask her casually if this place is a second hand store for Veronica foods? She stares at me. I suddenly realize thats what this is. This is a mass manufacturer for Veronica foods. She is lying to my face and I'm trying to just make a shop.

Dont come here. Its just a Veronica Foods reseller. I'm a chef I know this stuff seems standard but if you really just want to save yourself some time, money and a headache just go shop online and...

If you are looking for the most authentic Italian olive oil and balsamic vinegar, you've come to the right place. Speaking with the staff feels more like a culinary renaissance than a stop into a food specialty shop.

I highly recommend trying the heavier, peppery olive oils, in addition to the Grapefruit Balsamic Vinegar. Their Dark Chocolate Tangerine BV and the espresso-infused BV are amazing as well. They sell literally the best sun-dried tomatoes I've ever had in my life. Con 'Olio partners with Amy's Ice Cream as well to produce a Mexican Vanilla ice cream with EVOO-- Mexi-con 'Olio. AMAZINGLY good!
