I go to summer moon every morning and order the frozen chai and it is one of my favorite coffee drinks of all time. I order it with three shots of Expresso so it’s a pricey drink but well worth it! This morning I decided to do the matcha frozen which I had done before and it was explained to me in previous visit I just had to ask and pay extra. This time I received the drink and it was nothing like the way i ordered it the first time. It was clear that I was disappointed in my drink and the response was that they can’t make the drink frozen. I was also charged extra to pay for frozen but it was not made the way he said it would be. No offer was made to remake me a drink or offer me something else. I decided to order another drink and when at the counter another associate offered to remake my drink, the cashier shut her down and I spent another 12 dollars for a frozen drink that I liked. I threw away the iced match drink and spent double what I intended to spend this morning. I love summer moon and I love that location the people in the morning are so kind so it was strange to have that experience that was completely out of line with the experience I usually have there. Maybe the person was new, having an off morning or was unaware of expected norms at a coffee shop. Read moreI LOVE Summer Moon! Staff is friendly and the coffee is delicious. I always get a quarter wintermoon - just the right amount of sweetness for someone like me who doesn’t necessarily want a candy bar with their breakfast. Their “Moon Milk” can’t be beat (it reminds me a lot of horchata, but even better - which I didn’t think was possible). They’re always very sweet to my pooch, Sasha, who loves to tag along since there’s a nice outdoor seating area. I think the longest I’ve ever waited was 8-10 minutes. Normally it’s less than 5 minutes! I recommend this coffee shop to anyone who will listen.
By the way, I wanted to mention that two recent reviews were complaining about Summer Moon only serving cold brew.... this is false. I’m not sure if both of those people missed the memo or what, but the city of Austin has been on a boil water notice for nearly a week due to extreme flooding in the area tainting our water supply. Even the big chain coffee shops aren’t able to serve any warm/espresso beverages at this time. Just thought it was so petty of two so-called “regulars” to leave negative reviews about a limitation to the product that was totally outside of the shop’s control. When the city isn’t on a boil water notice, they have no problem making hot/espresso drinks. Thought I’d mention this for any out-of-towners or new residence who might be reading reviews.

The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of my experience the last two times I've gone. I always order the exact same thing, a regular 16oz deep steel cold brew black. Well, a couple weeks ago I guess the lady misunderstood me and gave me some type of fall cold brew, no big deal, I just tried something new. Well today when I went, I ordered a deep steep cold brew with lavender. It should've been $4.60. Well it rang up $6.22. I just thought they raised their prices like everything else, but no. Instead they rang up some latte ( I'm lactose intolerant) and gave that to me. I wasn't going to say anything, but I wanted my reg cold brew. I went back and let them know and they just took the other drink, gave me a small cold brew and didn't make up the cost. I figured they would at least give me the larger size that equals the price of the latte, but they didn't. At this point the line was so long I just gave up. I know it's only $1.50, but it's the point that times are hard and I already shouldn't be spending the money on coffee, so when I'm throwing extra money at this company bc of their mistakes, it's frustrating.
