I live in Knoxville, TN and I purchased a bike online at our local store. The bikes were all scratched to pieces when I arrived to pick it up at our local store and the staff members here were extremely apologetic and understanding when I cancelled my order without issue. My daughter has been begging for this bike for months. It was going to be a Christmas present for her. We have family in Indiana and I saw the Avon store had the same bike in stock. I placed an order online and called to add my mother in law as a pick up person since I live in TN and she lives 45 minutes from the Academy Sports in Avon. She arrived yesterday to pick up the bike. She told them she wanted to make sure there werenât any scratches or dents before completing the transaction. The employees completed the transaction BEFORE the bike was brought out. All the bikes had HUGE dents and scratches and I told her VIA FACETIME (where the employees could hear me) that I wanted to cancel the order. The EMPLOYEES STANDING NEXT TO MY MOTHER IN LAW said I would have to call the manager. I promptly called Ashley, the manager there yesterday, and told her the issue. I told her I had been charged for a bike. The transaction had been completed by one of her employees and my mother in law DID NOT LEAVE with the bike. She said I would have to do an âin store returnâ once I received my email with the return/refund barcode. I told her I just received that via email and she said it would have to be done IN PERSON. I asked why her employee completed the transaction prior to my mother in law leaving the facility with the merchandise and she had the audacity to say, âIt must have been a miscommunication. Thereâs nothing more I can do. Youâll have to call customer service.â
I immediately called customer service. The lady I spoke to could not grasp the situation, so I sat on hold for THIRTY minutes only to be told she had spoken to âsomeone else and they are requesting a refund for me. Someone would call me with a confirmationâ. I asked if this would be finished today and she replied, âMaybe, but if not, probably tomorrowâ. I have yet to hear anything about a refund confirmation.
I have been charged for a bike without receiving a bike. I have not been able to cancel my order and I am out money and waiting for my nearly $200 to be refunded so I can go look elsewhere for my daughterâs bike!
This is absurd and unprofessional on SO MANY LEVELS! I used to recommended Academy Sports to friends and family but never again after this encounter. I hope this can be fixed promptly or a small claims lawsuit might be in the near future! This is theft. You have taken my money but I have not...
Read moreI usually go here to get my protein powder and some fitness gear. Iâm never coming back after being denied a military discount. When purchasing a firearm, I saw a sign that said there was a military discount in the gun section on a display case of firearms. I cannot stress it enough that there was a sign in the firearm section that said military discount and there was no notice of restrictions to what the discount is for. In addition, I was told verbally that I will get the discount before purchase by the sales staff. After the background check was cleared, I was ready to pay and then was told that the military discount doesnât apply. They have the nerve to put a sign there and tell me that I would get the firearm at a discounted price only to be told no after wasting my time for 30 minutes. This is scummy behavior and if you are going to buy a gun, go to a local store not some soulless big box store that has no problem on not delivering on what they promise. Seriously what do you expect when you put a military discount sign in the firearm section on a display case? Truly...
Read moreI just left the academy sports and outdoors center. Went in there to get a shirt for my friend at the check out I was asked by a lady if I wanted to apply for a card to get some dollars off the cashier was making me apply for a credit card I did not realize it at the time because she didnât mention it was a credit card. So I put in my number and ss digit not knowing that it was for a credit card. At the end I was asked if I wanted to use my card I said i didnt want to sign up for the credit card the cashier told me I had to call a number to cancel the card. She gave me a Pamphlet which at the top says : please read before applying for the credit card academy. She gave me the pamphlet after misleading me into applying and telling me she could not cancel the card for me. I will not go back to this place and if this puts a dent on my credit score I will go through everything possible to make the responsables of the Avon location pay for it. Iâll call their company first thing in the morning. No wonder their clothes...
