First thing is first...the food here is great. When you eat, you will eat well. That said, they don't handle busy times well. Go when it's not busy or order your food for pickup. We understand many people have said the service is great and quick, however this was not our experience on Valentine's Day night.
They don't speak English well - The person I talked to on the phone didn't understand what a reservation is, yet told us they had made a reservation for us at 6:00. We had never been there before, so we didn't know this wasn't a "sit-down" place. You order at the front, get assigned a number, and then sit down and wait for your food. You get your own drinks.
We walked in and it was packed. We waited in a crammed line that wasn't much of a line at all for 10 minutes, just to be given a paper menu and be told, "sit wherever you like, then come back up here and order when you are ready." Would have been nice to know that's how it worked in the first place. They needed somebody greeting you at the door to tell you how it all worked. There was no such person. We were lucky there was even a table open that was big enough for the 4 of us. Very glad we "made a reservation."
We decided what we wanted, and went back up to the front again...and waited in line again. I was conversing with my wife over some of the combo options (that you can see by the door, but are not written on the menus, so I hope you can see the foyer through all the people and have good enough eyes to read when you're at your table deciding what you want to eat) that we had originally missed. There were other customers looking at us with blank stares, asking us how it all worked as if we had been there before, and asking us where we got our menus. Totally chaotic.
Once we ordered and got our number, we waited 80 minutes. Yes, 80. After 60, I went to the front to tell them we ordered an hour ago. She talked to the chefs in the back, and then told me it would be just another 2-5 minutes. We waited 10, then were approached by the owner/manager. He offered us beer bottles on the house for our wait. He then offered the same to others who had been waiting half as long as us. After another 10 minutes, the food came. I asked the lady who brought us our food how long the wait usually is, and she said 15-20 minutes. We would like to think we just waited 80 minutes because it was busy, except there were people who ordered right before and slightly after us getting their food after 30-40. We told her we waited an hour and change and we'd like something more than just beer, and she told us she would talk to her manager but never did, as he appeared on the floor again but never approached us.
We snagged the manager and told him what had happened. He was very apologetic but offered no explanation. We asked for compensation and he gave us a $10 gift card. At a seafood restaurant. We were saying how funny it would be if later we went in there with our $10 gift card and just ordered 3 beers, or 3 sides, or an appetizer. Since that's all $10 will get you. And almost one full king crab leg if you could order by the leg.
I know I seem very snooty and pessimistic but it was a very frustrating experience and I'm just being honest. We were all good sports about it and ended up having a good time once the food arrived. And again, it was great food. Just do yourselves a favor and order for pickup, or dine-in at a slow time. This is the 5 Guys Burgers and Fries of seafood. Don't go in there expecting great service or service of any kind when they are experiencing volumes they were never...
Read moreFirst off, the food is amazing. With plenty of options to customize the meal as you see fit, they have a bit of something that should cater to everyone. The showstopper here is their sauce : we generally opt for the Garlic Butter, and we have yet to be disappointed the multiple times we've been here.
The inside of this restaurant is well cleaned, but the food itself gets messy quickly (as should be expected with a place like this), I highly recommend donning the gloves and bibs before digging into the food - maybe even wear some clothes that you don't mind getting a little dirty.
There's a tiny bit of a nautical theme inside, but the atmosphere is somewhat similar to any take-out type of restaurant, where utility is of primary focus. The service you receive is very basic. Your service interaction will mainly just consist of ordering your food at the counter, and then them eventually bringing the plate to your table - nothing more. Should you need anything further, expect to wait in line at the counter, or help yourself at the drink fountain/utensil area.
if you're looking for a proper sit-down restaurant, this probably will not fit the bill. They opt for a highly casual atmosphere, which is a little unfortunate considering how pricey this place can be.
Just for reference, for two people sharing a plate, and ordering two drinks, we usually spend around $70-90 here.
TLDR : Decent place with great food. Expect it to be expensive, expect a very casual atmosphere, expect...
Read moreHorrible! Called in for take out ! Whatever you do dine in maybe. I ordered a 1/2 lb peel and eat shrimp and 1 full lb of snow crab legs ! Yea was lucky to even get a half pound maybe of snow crab. When I arrived 5 mins after the 20min the lady said it would be ready when I got to the counter she couldn't find the order under the phone number and name I left and had to ask again about what I ordered. Weakest snow crab legs ever. No meat what so ever in them and all assorted tiny legs not a even full cluster or some had "already been picked and maybe two in the cluster. .... With the sauce , "1lb of crab legs and 1/2 lb of peel and eat shrimp" , to go box, bag , 2 small potatoes and a half corn on the cob .... it weighed 1lb 1 oz...weighed it on our kitchen scale. That is the stupidest thing up marked price for seafood U have ever seen in my life and I truly believe they do this on purpose for take out orders. Another lady right before I got there to pick my up had called in early too before me and she still had not recieved her to go order. They didn't seem that busy at all at 7pm on Saturday. Just won't eat crab legs ever again from there. For that price of 1lb of crab legs for $28.96 that...
