Party Place — Local services in Avon

Well, I have to change my review for this place, unfortunately. I bought balloons for my son's graduation party for centerpieces and took 2 balloons that I bought from another store to get filled with helium. I paid extra for 24 hour helium. I picked up the balloons Friday evening so I could get the hall set up so that was less I had to get done the day of the party as I was going to be busy enough. I spent over $250 there and I could only fit about half of the balloons in my car and sent my boyfriend and son to pick up the rest. When they brought the rest to the hall for me, I realized they had forgotten to give them one of the bigger balloons that I had bought at the other store, along with the tassels that were to hang from the balloons, also which they said they would put on for me but didn't. I called the store and talked to the manager who said there was nothing she could do about it since the balloon had already been blown up and the only thing I could do is come in the morning to pick the other balloon and tassels up. This was defeating the purpose of me sending my son and boyfriend back to pick them up as I had enough to do that morning!! I would have just left it there, BUT, they charged me a whopping $19.99 to fill up ONE balloon and I had 2 of them!! So, those 2 balloons ALONE FOR JUST THE SUPPOSED 24 HOUR HELIUM COST ME OVER $42!! JUST TO FILL WITH HELIUM?! I had no choice at that point though because I needed them for the decorations and I couldn't return them to the other store either because they had been opened BY THEM! So, I return Saturday morning to pick up the balloon that they forgot to give my son and boyfriend and they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about. So I told the girl that it's that big, black balloon hanging right there on that rack!! She went and got it for me and I left. I went straight to the hall to finish getting done what I needed to get done for the party and my son comes up to me and tells me that the balloon I JUST picked up (and spent $19.99 for 24 hour helium, supposedly) was only floating halfway and it was dull looking. Not shiny like the one I picked up the night before. I was extremely irritated at that point, but I couldn't call the store because I was busy prepping for people to start showing up. I started looking at the centerpieces on the tables and they were all ok, except for one balloon that was now SITTING on the table and not up in the air like the others. I'm sorry, but when you can charge people $19.99 to fill up ONE freaking balloon, it had BETTER last AT LEAST 24 hours!! I will be calling the manager and if I'm not given a credit- cash back or to my debit card only- then I will figure something else out. I took pictures of the 2 balloons that I just talked about, but I'm SURE they're going to say, oh, there's nothing we can do about it. I'll ask for the general manager's information at that point. I would understand if I didn't spend a lot there, but to me, $250 IS a lot of money to spend on balloons and the amount spent shouldn't matter to begin with!! That's NOT good business practice!! I don't want store credit either because I won't return for ANY reason, and if they say they can't or won't do anything to make this right, I won't refer people to them either!! BBB will be my next step and I'll go from there. After my initial visit and I was all excited about the store, I went to a few Dollar Tree stores and found what I needed there for only $1, so I got majority of the stuff from there. Party Place was charging 3,4,5,6, and even 7 times as much for the stuff I bought, but they say they're a "discount store". They're NOT!! Also kind of like false advertisement in my opinion. My advice is to check out Dollar Tree BEFORE you go here to buy ANYTHING!! If I only knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have given a positive review and 5 stars to begin with. I think the 24 hour helium is a scam too....

Horrible just horrible. I went in there bought something didn’t want it because I found something better. Same day I go back. I try to return it. They say no they said I can’t get my money back and I’m like why can’t I get my money back and they Don’t want to give me any money, but they say I have to exchange it so I go get something. I want to exchange the only thing in the store I wanna get because I don’t wanna get anything from here and then they say they can’t give me any of the rest of the money back. I have to go find something else and exchange it and then a lady comes in same problem and they tell her that it’s her fault that It’s her fault that her parenting is bad because her daughter bought a costume without letting her know and she wanted to return it and they called her parenting the problem instead of her being able to return the costume that she didn’t wanna get. I don’t have that kind of money to not be able to get my money back and I had to just pick out random stuff or I wouldn’t get the...

Really mad about my purchase here! We were there to get items for a baby shower but of course went down the Halloween aisle. We decided to be a cop and inmate. Cop outfit was $40 something and inmate was $22. At register the clerk said that today was the last day to return halloween costumes. OK!!! I didn't think anything of it! We than stopped at Drug Mart for gift bags etc and the SAME COSTUMES were there and they were only $12.99!!!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately i didn't have time to go back to Avon to return the ones i already bought!!! So i just have to eat this one up!!!!!! But it pisses me off that stores like this over price items just to take advantage of their customers!!!!!!! Sell the product for what it's worth!!!!! Yes i should have researched more and found the better deal but i also should be able to rely on the store offering me that better deal!!!!!!!!!! Definitely not going to shop here...
