Main Event hosted my daughter's 10th birthday party. Bowling, build your own pancake buffet. With crafts and then gaming for the children. They even left with goodie bags.
Maya was the hostess and she was amazing. Everything she did was great. She was awesome with the kids, helping to get the proper size bowling shoes which isn't easy for so many kids. And she really kept the fun energy going with the children throughout the party, and maintained order during crafting. She really was great!
There were some concerns that were out of her control however.
We paid for 3 bowling lanes, 14 bowlers. The supervisor told her to only use 2 because they were busy and might need it. According to the rules posted, no more than 5 bowlers per lane. So the kids were waiting much longer between turns than they should have. The third Lane had our name on it but it went unused.
We paid for a pizza that never made it to the table. When we asked about it, the supervisor said we didn't order one. Our host informed the supervisor that it was in our order. Then the supervisor said they would make it and box it up so we could take it home. We declined and the price was removed.
The gaming cards were supposed to have 1 VR (virtual reality) game credit, and $10 of regular gaming credit. The kids were ushered to the VR games first. More than half of their cards malfunctioned, or didn't have the VR credit loaded. So instead when they played the VR game it wiped out the $10 gaming credit.
Speaking multiple times with the supervisor we were told it had been resolved twice, but it wasn't. The last time we talked to the supervisor it was apparent that we were annoying. I know she can look at the computer and tell that the cards weren't used. 8 of the 14 cards had 0 credits and 0 tickets. My wife was so frustrated she went to the bowling desk and bought cards for the kids so they could play.
Our daughter had friends from school and from church at the party, we couldn't let some of them play, and others not. We shouldn't have been placed in that situation at all. That was of course at the end of the party.
To spend over $600, and then some, and be treated like a nuisance because you want what you paid for is a poor way to conduct business.
I would like to thank Maya for all she did. She was certain "this never happens", she believes the supervisor was "doing everything she could". Maya maintained professionalism even when it could make her look foolish. She did the right thing.
I think on paper the party seems like a great idea. The kids did have a great time. For the birthday girls parents, we found it to be very frustrating and seriously embarrassing.
We will not be returning to Main Event for any reason...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAwful experience today at a Main Event birthday pancake party and the games on the arcade floor. The āhostedā party was anything but - the two assigned staff members rolled their eyes, stood around and watched the parents serve the kids food and coordinate all the activities, and elements of the breakfast werenāt brought out until after the kids had finished eating such as the syrup. They presented us with a bucket of assorted bowling shoes instead of handing out the correct sizes after 20 minutes of waiting and being kicked out of the party area, the āhostsā disappeared rather than engaging with the kids, and we started bowling so late that nobody got to finish their frames. There were no goodie bags, drinks were brought out one by one and we had to ask for each one. No refills were offered and we consistently had to hunt down a host to ask for things.
Once on the arcade floor, 80% of the games were broken or operating funky. The air hockey tables were all damaged or out of service and the only working one didnāt blow enough air to move the puck. Fruit Ninja was on an error screen, the lane masters were glitching and only giving out one ball at a time and a man was crawling up the machine to get a stuck ball (with no staff in sight to help), one basketball game had a broken ball gate so it was sending all the balls out at once but none of the points counted and the other was taking credits off the card but not dropping any balls, and various other machines would subtract credits and then fail to start game play. Quite a few games had āOut of Serviceā flashing on their screens. We got reimbursed for 2-3 different games that ate up credits before giving up and leaving. Even the people at the front desk seemed unsurprised that customers were lining up to complain about the games.
As I was leaving after having complained at the front desk, a staff member pulled me aside and told me that sheād had the same disappointing experience the week before when she brought her family to play. Evidently the technicians donāt want to come in to fix the games? If thatās accurate and theyāre aware of the ongoing issues, Main Event should not be charging people full price for the significantly sub par experience. Perhaps they should even close the doors for a few days for a tech and facility reset and staff training.
Parties at Main Event are way too expensive for that many frustrations and hearing that itās a known problem that hasnāt been resolved in weeks is frustrating. Weāve been to many parties at this location in past years and this...
Ā Ā Ā Read morehonestly from the second we walked in i disappointed. we got sat as a party of 11 through the host, it took 20+ minutes to get a server, but we had to approach the bar to ask for one. who then informed us they forgot about us. we then ordered drinks and apps. 15 minutes to get our drinks. apps came out wrong. they fixed. we finally ordered food after sitting there for over an hour. i asked about vegetarian options. and he recommended a burger with no bunā¦.. no explanation really needed for that. they forgot two peopleās entrees entirely. so we then waited an additional 20 minutes for their food. we told our server how checks were split as soon as we sat down. we ordered by checks. and told him when the last person from that check ordered. he still managed to missplit the checks twice. then forgot to bring one of them over so we waited even longer to get the final check. the manager came to the table with a different server. he was scrolling on her phone looking at pictures while talking to us. and he had an alcoholic beverage he was drinking while talking to us. well he barely talked to us. really dropped checks while on the phone drinking and left. end of food service. letās talk about the games. we went to the front desk to get wristbands and game cards. explained we never been here before and would like an explanation of how to go about it. the lady said ok and never said anything. so we just got wristbands assuming everything was included. thatās not accurate. we then just paid for the individual attractions we wanted to do. and purchased game cards separately. went to go play games. first two games we attempted were broken and just ate the chips. i went to the front to tell the same lady the issue. she cut me off and said she would replace my chips. i said okay. can you still go fix the game. we would still like to play it. someone put all the basketballs in one game so it was jammed. easy fix. but she was just so rude and unhelpful and unprofessional the whole time. as weāre getting ready to leave after 3-4 hours of being there from the second we walked in. the server approached two people from the party telling them they forgot to charge them for two things and they needed to pay. they pulled their recipes out. and they were paid for. except for a queso. but at that point. that was your fault. and itās been two hours. chalk it. we couldāve been gone at that point. to end this review. iāll just say this was an absolutely terrible experience. and we will never return. train your employees....
