Roco's Jewelry — Local services in Bakersfield

I've done business with Roco's for the last 40 years and have always loved their service, however, today they truly let me down. I just called to see what they were paying on 14kt gold by ounce and the guy that answered said he doesn't quote over the phone and would have to see it, test it and weigh it before he could tell me what they are paying.

That is utter rubbish and a way to cheat people. He could always qualify his quote by subjecting the piece to inspection but this was just a way to get someone in the door to see whether he could cheat them or not. That is just really poor customer service. Too bad that the store has come to this.

UPDATE: I will state I've always loved this jewelry store, however, in the owner's reply he states that he politely explained their policy, which he did not. He was polite but had he explained their policy, I wouldn't have been upset. But, no problem. I went across the street to Gold Buyers and come to find out they are the same people who had the kiosk in the entrance to the Valley Plaza years ago when gold was at a premium. They had the best prices then and they still do. So, the ooops! on the part of Roco's was provident for me. ...

Rocos jewelry is amazing! Last year for Christmas I bought a very nice custom necklace for my mom and it has three different stones in it for her three girls and when I called back kAy jewelry where I originally purchased it at they had a whole new staff that when I asked if they can transfer the stones to a ring the lady was very rude about it and basically said it was too much work I don’t want to help you, so I went down to Kevin jeweler and the nice man recommend Rocos jewelry bc that’s where they go to get their customs made. Rocos jewelry was AMAZING! Both men were very helpful nice and made sure I walked out with a really nice custom ring for my mom and added two more stones to the necklace. They took the time to help me and when I didn’t like a design he didn’t get mad he went and made another, my point is he took the time to help which most jewelry’s just want to sell you something quick and easy to take your money but Rocos worked for it and it wasn’t even expensive. Please save your time and go elsewhere! Dropped off my ring to get my prongs tightened. Picked it up and they swapped my ring with another ring and told me that was the right ring. The prongs were a different color and different setting, and when I stated that I was told it was because of polishing. Then I told them the size was wrong and was told it’s because my fingers swell. I told them to bring me a ring sizer only to find out this mysterious ring was an 8!! My ring was a 7.25 that I got resized a week ago!! Instead of going straight to the back to see if the rings were mixed up I kept getting excuses and trying to tell me I’m wrong. He ended up going to the back after minutes of back and forth to get my original ring and said there was a mix up. 2 stars instead of 1 because my ring was tightened and looked great. He also apologized but what in the actual world, I literally had my engagement ring for a month and this is the stuff I have...
