Light Street Nail Salon at Federal Hill — Local services in Baltimore

I would rate the nails a 4 but my most recent experience a 1. I was a repeat customer here but not anymore.

I called at 9:45am to ask what time they were available for the requested service. They were pretty open in the morning so I said I can arrive by 11am. They asked how far I lived and I said 10 min away.

At 10:36 I received a call back- whoever I spoke to had an attitude and said “where are you?” I reiterated that I said I could come by 11 and before I could get our that I was on my way, and she said “You’re not coming.” And then hung up on me. Little did they know I was on my way for the service when I received the call so I still decided stop by to speak with the manager.

The manager gave the reason or “excuse” that the woman I spoke to canceled her appointment for me, thought I said 10:30 instead of 11, and she didn’t hang up on me, she ended the call because another customer came in. She framed it as a misunderstanding. If that was the case, it’s still bad business practices and bad customer service.

I went in today for a gel manicure and pedicure. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because the pedicure was pretty good. The main problem was my gel French manicure. I went in after having gel on my nails for 3 weeks, so they were fairly long and grown out. When asked by the lady if I wanted them cut down, I said yes. Now they are very short! She kept cutting and filing and cutting some more. I also wanted them round shaped which is what they were before she cut them. I have some that are more square, some round-ish and a few that are a mix of both. No consistency! The edges are very rough and uneven. The French manicure is also subpar, some thick others thin, the lines are not precise or even at all. I also have little black specks from the file stuck in the polish because she kept filing and shaping even after I washed my hands. I also have purple polish left on some nails where she didn’t remove all the old polish. Very disappointed to have paid $80 for this...

I went in here and paid $80 for a set of nails with gems on two fingers. When I left I got in the shower and they started coming off and by the next day they were pretty much off so I went back and said I wanted my money back for the gems which was $14 and I wanted regular glitter put on and she argued with me saying I couldn't have my money back because that's what I asked for and I said well they came off I shouldn't have to pay for something that isn't done right. You made a mistake, not me. Why should I have to take a loss for your mistake.. I shouldn't! So she gave mey $14 back but she left my nail buffed with nothing on it.
