Food was great! The wait wasn’t too bad for a Saturday morning around 10-1030, and the place didn’t really pick up with crowds as the morning progressed. This place is popular, but the wait shouldn’t be too long and is hence not a dealbreaker! A word of caution about their menu, the prices listed on their website are apparently from “10 years ago” and are not the same as what appears available to order when you scan the QR code at the restaurant. How hard is it to update a website? Further, an automatic 20% tip is added to any bills exceeding $50 or parties of 4 or larger. This is disclosed in the form of a laminated sheet of paper stashed among the condiments on the table. I was really turned off by this. I typically tip 20% anyway but a tip is meant to be an added bonus for servers who do a great job, made at the discretion of the person who is paying! A word to the restaurant, why not just eliminate tipping since you have made that decision for your customers already, raise your prices by 20%, and be more transparent with your customers and practices? The plastic cups and silverware were also tacky. Maybe this is because they can’t find enough staff to help clean the dishes or because of “covid protocols” but if you’re reusing dishes and tables then I think stainless steel silverware can still have a place at the table too. The food was good and the portions were huge. I wasn’t mad about the cost at all, I just didn’t appreciate the forced tipping and sly practices. The receipt also prints out with a line to add more tip, so be mindful of that too when it comes time to pay.
About the food! We ordered the “something simple”, churro French toast, hellfire hash, and breakfast tacos. The hellfire hash came with over easy eggs and the yolks were perfectly runny. The cinnamon crust on the French toast was delightfully crunchy, and they didn’t skimp on the whipped cream topping. Again, the food was great, but the experience was...
Read moreThis is a definite MUST!!! Sits in Federal Hill and is the most fun establishment to me. If you love a Beetle Juice/Nightmare Before Christmas kinda vibe this is it. That’s basically the look of the inside. 🥰🥰
We dined outside because it was available and it was a gorgeous day so a win is a win.
The menu options are out of this world. We ordered the following: Sweet Baby Jesus, Spicy Crab Tomato and Pepper Jack omelette, blueberry lemon pancakes and the Sin Roll 🥰
The Sweet Baby Jesus was so amazing…from the crispy hash brown (perfection) to the lump crab meat and to seal the deal the most flavorful hollandaise sauce..explosion of tastiness in my mouth.
The Blueberry lemon pancakes were just perfect. They do not require any syrup but if you like drizzle some. They weren’t to sweet it was just enough to satisfy the little sweet you need after eating something savory.
The spicy crab tomato omelette was great and you really can’t go wrong with it. Every bite was the best bite ever.
But what really sealed the deal on this entire breakfast was the SIN ROLL!!! Y’all when I tell you I have never had a cinnamon roll this good I am telling you the Gods honest truth. It had a crunch to it not stale but this butter sugary cinnamon crunch to the outer layer. And OMG when you got toward the middle it was a lava flow of icing. This is a must order you will not be disappointed.
Lastly the coffee is solid cup not bitter tart but just a great cup of coffee.
10/10 I would recommend and come back if I visit again. Also definitely didn’t finish everything but I’m a lover of good eats and this was well worth it.
Also note: gratuity is added on orders...
Read moreThis is not my 1st time at Blue Moon however if Zero was a rating that would be it for me Sarah please reach out to me. I am sitting at the Light Street Location currently and had the absolute worst experience from two of your employees. My spouse and I waited for a table for two. I was told to go to the table on the left against the wall. I did however there was only one chair at the table, so I got the attention of the 1st person that walked by and told her that our party is a party of two and we will need another chair. She said ok. We placed or order and waited. Our order arrived. First let me say that I dont eat meat. The server handed me a plate with bacon and eggs. I said this isn't my order. I ordered hash browns and eggs. She just looked at me and did nothing, as if to say figure it out. She then handed me toast and I said I asked for English muffin. She began to tell me Ive been giving her a hard time since I walked in. My Spouse was in shocked and said to her excuse me you have a terrible attitude. She began to go back and forth until I asked to speak to the Manager. The server said I'm sorry there is no Manager here today. So I got up and went to the counter where her coworker Teresa joined in and would not allow me to get a word in. I asked to speak to a Manager. She said I am the Manager. At this point I did not believe any of them because that would clearly mean the server just lied. Both had the absolute WORST attitude EVER. I live in this neighborhood and love to spend my money in the community but this is NOT what I pay for. Will make it my business to submit reviews about this place until someone contacts me...
