Gordon Food Service Store — Local services in Battle Creek

Very nice updated and expansion at their new location. This is a great convenience to those of us preferring to shop away from the busy Beckley Road corridor.

The order pickup system leaves a bit to be desired. There are two spaces designated for pickup orders. Twice I've found both spaces occupied by in-store shoppers, and had to wait for at least one to leave so I could use the space.

They text when the order is ready. I realize that they may still have to add some of the temp-sensitive items, but I've had to wait upwards of 20 minutes almost every time, with one occasion over 30 minutes with repeated calls to request it.

Since the staff has always been super nice and professional, I hope these are just wrinkles for them to iron out at...

12.29.23 Update: Maybe have employees not touching their food that they are eating at the cash register while they are checking you out. Maybe have them actually act like they care they have a job. I like those place less and less. I did get a " have a nice day". Where do they find these people don't act like they want to wait on you?

I really enjoy GFS. However, tonight was the third time that the deli person didn't acknowledge me, There is also no bell to ring that I saw. As I walked away, i thanked him for his "help". Brand new building. Nice smiling service staff. Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. They got me my order and even let me buy more product so that I wouldn't run out. Very nice selection. The store was very clean. They also have a popcorn stand of sorts with all different flavors of popcorn, so be sure to check it out. If you want to order online first, then go pick it up, and then you will get your order faster. Be sure to check out their deli where they can slice you up all kinds of meats.
