A must-see for Disney World Adventurers This is located inside the Magic Kingdom, in Adventureland. That means as you come down Mainstreet turn to the left of the circle and walk into the entrance of this part of the park. The entrance to the treehouse will be on your left. I have walked this most times that I have come to the park. There has never been a line and so it is easy to go into even when the park is very crowded. It is a recreation of the treehouse that the Swiss Family Robinson would have built created as only the Imagineers could do it. Any age and any height can go. There are over 100 stairs to climb to the top but the sights and rooms that you see are wonderful. The climb up takes you by the Captain’s cabin to the boy's room, all the way back down to the kitchen with signs to explain the various areas. The entire treehouse is wonderfully thought out and the view from the top-level (six floors up) allows visitors a view across the park. I highly recommend this walk for anyone visiting the park but recommend that you take your time on the climb both...
Read moreThe Swiss Family Treehouse, an opening day attraction at the Magic Kingdom (despite what other reviews say), is what the old ticket books would call a "B Ticket". Not a dark ride or thrill ride, just a basic walk-thru attraction meant to transport visitors to the story of the Robinson family. Walt originally imagined many of our favorite attractions this way. The Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean were both envisioned as walk-through "museums" of a sort. It's great that both American parks have retained this low key variant for people who want something simple they can get into quickly and pass the time enjoying the craft of the imagineers. While the Disneyland version only recently reopened with a similar theme (for years it was a Tarzan treehouse) the Orlando park has always been home to the Robinsons and the park is better for it. There's a great view of the castle from the top and the sets are imaginative and very well done. Replacement will probably never be an option as it has such a small footprint and requires very little...
Read moreSwiss famly treehouse received a minor holiday overlay on the attraction. The organ instead of playing that catchy tune is playing Christmas carols!
Following the movie of the 60s signs point to the primative lifestyle the family endured while being shipwrecked on a desert island. See the kitchen, the library, the family room, the parent's bedroom, and the boy's bedroom. Some climbing is involved but the steps provide railings for safety. Check out the water can system outside that bring up cold water to the family.
There is never a wait for this attraction. You must be able to walk stairs to enjoy it. Most of the scenes are behind netting adding to the effect that the family needed to protect themselves against wild animals in the jungle. Located in...
