We always look for something satisfying when we are doing a full day at Disney. Yesterday we took a chance and tried The Diamond Horseshoe. We were cautiously optimistic after reading online reviews.
Our family of 4 enjoyed this meal so much! We are right at 1:00pm when they opened. We ordered the saloon feast for our family. We were excited about having all you can eat - family style at the table. The meal started with a potato salad, a watermelon salad, and a mixed greens salad with a honey vinegar dressing. Due to a watermelon allergy we asked them not to bring the watermelon salad to the table. The waiter explicitly told us that the potato sald contained jalapenos and that it might be spicy. Spicy is not an issue for our family, that being said, except for the few slivers of fresh jalapenos we didn't notice the spice. The potato salad was very good. We LOVED the mixed greens salad. We also enjoyed the cornbread and jalapeno butter. This was not really spicy at all. Our 4 year old ended up eating it off his bread.
The main course was a mix of beef brisket, grilled chicken thighs and pulled pork. This was served with a little extra BBQ sauce on the side. Then the sides brought out were corn on the cob, coleslaw, baked beans and mac n cheese. All of it was delicous, our favorites were the chicken and the pulled pork. The sides were good too. Everyone ate so much!
Dessert was brought out as a slice of chocolate cake, berry tart and a peach cobbler cheesecake. My husband and our 4 year old loved the berry tart and our daughter ate the chocolate cake. And I really LOVED the peach cheesecake.
The beat part of this whole experience was pur waiter Russ! He did such a great job taking care of our dynamic table!
Things to keep in mind. The saloon feast is 36 per adult (10 and older), 20 for kids 3-9, and no charge for 2 and under. There is no sweet tea only unsweet tea. They do have lemonade and soft drinks. These are included in the price of the feast. It is highly recommended that you make a reservation as this restaurant is a smaller venue so seating is at a premium. There is a lot is space between tables, so you aren't bumping chairs with everyone. Also, I would not recommend this for a party bigger than 8, unless you are okay sitting close, at different tables.

Read moreFood was nice but overpriced which you always expect at Disney World. Chefs did a great job. The biggest negative was the service. It actually spoilt our meal and put a huge negative on our day. Our waitress was horrible and rude. We visited on 6th August 2019. Our waitress was from Morocco according to her badge. I think she was called Akrah. She did not help at all. Was incompetent and none existent throughout the meal. We asked another server to find her because we wanted more drinks and she could not. 15%- 20% is how you base tipping in the States. They put an 18% charge for service on our meal of over $300. If waitresses earn this and serve 5 tables per hour then they are on $270 per hour plus salary. If staff are supposed to earn tips based on service then I would of given her 0% tip. Tipping may be standard in the States but where I come from (England, UK) it is based on quality of service. You earn a tip, you should not expect it! Disney World service is always amazing! Everyone else at the park was brilliant but this person should work at Universal not at Disney World. To be in the Magic Kingdom, the main attraction of Disney World. The place which costs so much money to attend. A once in a life time holiday (vacation) and have this kind of service is shocking! I am truly disappointed!
I reported the problem to the manager and also customer relations. The manager and server (Akrah) did not apologise. Eric at Customer Relations was fantastic and couldn’t of helped enough. He handled the situation extremely well and I cannot praise him enough for his service.
I would not attend this restaurant again and I hope a secret shopper experiences what we did cause this is appalling! I’m sure she would be out of a job...
Read moreMy family and I went to the Magic Kingdom the week of Christmas which is the busiest time of the year, I mean hundreds and thousands of people! While we were there we failed to make reservations for a restaurant and good luck trying to book anything the week of. We did however walk up to The Diamond Horseshoe and they were able to work their magic and get us a table, 2 tables actually right next to each other because there were 11 of us. Our waiter Russ was AMAZING!!! soo sweet, so attentive, he even notice that our 7 year old daughter wasn't eating so he asked her if she wanted something different that wasn't on the menu, and when I explained to him that she was waiting until after dinner for us to find a place that sold clam chowder because we are from California and that is our staple for us whenever we visit Disneyland in CA. Russ told my daughter let me see what I can do, and then came back and informed us that the Sous Chef Juan Carlos was going to make her some Clam Chowder, she was over the moon excited! and not only did he make her clam chowder he delivered it to our table himself and they took a selfie together! And it was the BEST clam chowder I've ever had! Not only was the food outstanding, the service was the same! They made our family feel like we were special and that we mattered in a sea of hundred of thousands! We will never forget this experience and I know my daughter will remember this and how she felt like a princess. Thank you Russ, Juan Carlos and the entire staff of The Diamond Horseshoe located at the Magic Kingdom we...
