So Iām torn between one star and five star so Iām going to give it a three star based on the experience that Iāve had and how I felt. I go to Michaelās for the first time ever because my other fabric store is no longer available to me upon arrival and entering the building I get greeted with a smile and assistance, One where fabric was since Iāve never been to the store the lady showed me where I needed to be. I followed her directions went and got two pieces of yarn for the moment to get them cut or to find someone to help me figure it out there was an employee that was alerted from another customer on. Who do we call to have it cut? She told us that there was a button in The back that we could push for assistance to me, it seemed like she didnāt want to help us at the moment, but she ended up helping us. I got my pieces cut after the first customer. She asked me if it was done or if I need anything else. I told her that I was still going to look cause there was a couple more pieces that I needed And then proceeded to ask her that the button on the wall was the right button that I needed to push for assistance, she said Yes, so moving forward, the same lady that greeted me with a smile. I asked her for her opinion on ceiling in her take one blankets. And she helped me out still professional still stopping what sheās doing and not The impression that maybe I can get someone else to do it so I was really grateful for that Catch her name. So I thought it was all said and done. I got the pieces that I wanted For the second go around push the button got the same lady and got her measurements and as she just continue to cut I got the impression somewhere down the line that I was being prejudged and or discriminated upon because I did have about eight more pieces or nine give or take that I needed to cut and they were all the same size But one, So at some point, I started looking at the fabrics that To figure out if all the colors were gonna match someway somehow and linked together and when she got done cutting, she asked me if That was it. I told her yes and thank you so I proceed to go and look and see if I can find sewing yarn and I see her rush upfront. I was maybe like a couple minutes behind her by the time I got to the spot where you check out I hear notification thatās loud at the door that you have set up the security alarm for both doors, At that point, I knew I was being discriminated. Donāt have to go too much in for myself, but that tells it all and what makes matters worse. I think she had my ticket from the back in her hand, and she scanned it and then tossed it in the trash behind the counter went around the other side, didnāt see her, but started to check out. I look up and I see her again at the other register on the opposite side now Iām a grown woman. I donāt have to steal, especially not fabric that I am making for a family member. I spent a little over $100 for fabric. Maybe Iām not dressed to par to be able to āafford.ā fabric but I just think thatās highly disrespectful and Iām really aware of my surroundings. I would have rather her ask me if I had enough money to pay for the fabric instead of racing and beating me to the front to sit on security system for the door that should have been on once you open the store that just donāt make sense to me thatās why I can say for me. It felt like discrimination, and it felt like I was being judged upon how I looked one and then how much fabric that I bought in one trip I did not get the ladyās name that worked there, but I do think that it starts with a J I would say I would not be coming back, but you canāt let one person ruin it for the rest of the experience that I have and Iām not going to do that because even the lady that checked me out was helpful and very professional so I just say and I like to tell people that I come in contact with never judge someone by how they either look, their race, the ethnicity because some people are well off and donāt need to steal from a store with fabric that cost six dollars with tax...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love shopping at Michael's! I do a lot of crafting and Michael's has everything that I need to do so. They carry just about everything I need that I can't get anywhere else or have to wait for it to be shipped.
Some of the prices are a little high but they have sales advertised every day. I signed up for their emails and receive exclusive daily specials and coupons that the rest of the public doesn't get. Michael's always has a 40% off a single item coupons and occasionally has 20% off your entire purchase coupons, amongst other great coupons. Those 40% off coupons are my favorite. I bring hubby with me so he can use a coupon for me too.
They even sell furniture for crafting. I bought a wonderful artist desk for an amazing price. It gives me a great work surface. Having room to work is always important.
I also shop on their website as they carry more items than they have in their store. You can also use the coupons on the website. The shipping is a little slow, especially before major holidays.
The return policy is great but I have never had to return anything. The employees are always ready to help if so needed. I always have a great experience...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSeems that they have cut back on their merchandise. Certainly not the Michael's I knew from years past. Went to the framing department where they had an older lady working. She was a very nice person, but totally clueless on framing. I chose a matte for a frame to put an embroidery piece in and it did not fit. Even though the measurements on the package said that was the correct size. The lady kept trying to force it, and the matte kept buckling up. I asked if it could be cut down a bit. She cut it, and still didn't fit. She finally said, "this isn't going to fit". Well, Duh! I waited almost 20minutes for her to cut it. She said, "Well, I have another customer to tend to so can you pay for this up front?". I told her I was not going to purchase a matte that didn't fit. When she was folding the prongs back on the back of my frame something popped. She said, " Oh, I hope I didn't break the frame or glass!"....I would not take anything there that you value to be framed as she literally had no idea what she was doing. She even had trouble measuring and told me she'd been there a year! So sad that it has diminished so much, I used to LOVE...
