I really like this store as someone who is really into Pokemon and a bit of One Piece this store has good selections of a lot of product including sports and other assorted card games and whatnot but I do have a couple of little nitpicks personally
First of all customer service has been usually pretty top notch here but I think there are some improvements some of the products get pushed quite heavily I do think there is a lack of breathing room when it comes to customer interactions it sometimes gives the feeling of pick a product and get going I usually tend to browse my options first before buying and every counter you walk up to there is something they are trying to get you with I just looked at a battle partners box and one of the younger males working there was going on about the ionos wattrel promo so maybe just relax a bit on the upselling of stuff would be appreciated also the employees struggle to remember prices on stuff maybe a price tag sticker or sheet like they had when monthly deals are in is needed
I love the aesthetic of the store when it just opened singles in displays products behind them and usually something cool to find but recently I have found that the amount of product still in boxes just around is a bit obnoxious especially around the register and I think the store just needs a bit of a reorganization day especially with the Japanese product I get that they like to post on their story the cases being cracked (and the ig is up next) but its honestly kinda unflattering and overwhelming when you walk in i know they have the cupboards underneath it might be good to crack half the cases and have the boxes out on display and keep the other half sealed for content again not hating think a bit of a reorganize day is needed also adding onto that the pile of extra boxes by the entrance is a nice gesture it does feel kinda in the way on the floor on the way out
the instagram is something ive been following since i first came in one of my brothers friends is a friend of the business and said to keep up with the monthly deals the insta was the best place to do so I think the amount of posts is a bit much at times maybe instead of a whole post to announce one thing maybe every Sunday they can have one big post showing events releases tournament updates for the week and what not and have that be the pinned post
edit : after reading some other reviews I do agree sometimes the store does feel a little disingenuous with pricing and it feels like its less of a love for the hobby and more to maximize profits I can agree to an extent I understand this is a business they gotta keep the lights on and match market price but sometimes they do get trigger happy with the pricing on stuff and its most noticeable with Japanese Pokemon product but to that I say just shop else where if you dont like the price or just leave a little suggestion the owners are usually pretty open to talking prices from what ive heard
and to the psa graders do it yourself ebay is free to sell on dawg
again love this store ive spent too much money in there lol and its nice to have this kind of place in beaverton especially to this quality and care just wanted to get out some small little things that have been noticeable to me...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHey Everyone, just wanted to vent some of the proās and conās of this store because while it is one of my favorite stores in the area for the hobby some of the recent ongoing things happening here are enough to make people consider not going here at all!
My biggest gripe is the absolute up-charge on new products recently going in for the new PokƩmon TCG set Battle Partners I went in expecting higher than MSRP but still reasonable maybe 10$ more due to high demand trust me I get it as an independent business, but instead I ended up being offered the box for almost 30$ more than MSRP and id like to say its a one off kind of thing but the same thing happened with Prismatic Evolutions when the Japanese equivalent came out some months ago and its absolutely outrageous to charge so much when you can go down the street and find some for MSRP and all this feels like a slap in the face when they advertise these community events based around said product!
A nice thing to say about this store is the staff is super friendly even if it feels like they are breathing down your neck as I often find myself looking at the often jumbled product (we will get to that) they ask all kinds of questions which I don't mind but when they are actively shoving an āofferā or ādealā its kind of irritating but other than that i love the staff and they are all doing the best!
But where do I even get started on the jumbled mess of unopened products and booster cases littered around and the way 70% of the staff has no clue what anything is actually priced at so please if you actually see this ADD PROPER PRICING AND OPEN THE SEALED CASES OR AT LEAST STORE THEM šššš cant even count on hands and toes how many times ive had to wait for an employee to ask the owner how much something is just to awkwardly decline buying said product because I found out the store is upcharching on product and thats what this all leads to.
This store used to feel like it had passion for the hobby and a genuine love for Cards but as time goes on we somehow got lost and ended up screwing over the fans to turn a profit so please stop over buying on product thats not in demand and up-charging the stuff thats hot just for the sake of making up for lost profits because when you treat the FANS right, the fans will treat you right because as it is right now it feels like a lame loser scalper opened a brick and mortar store and i dont want that to become this shopās legacy because it truly is a gem and it shines so bright when its properly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs far as card shops go they are a good place but in recent times its felt like the store itself is a shadow of its former self /is not very friendly to newcomers to the hobby as it was when they first opened I've been going here since they opened and it got me back in the door of collecting pokemon cards and have a good selection of modern but here is the problem A year ago they had reasonably good prices even retail a couple of times during sales event that they no longer do anymore because they capitalize on hype of new sets and sell them at a stupid up charge like during the prismatic launch they had it at 100+ for an etb and last I checked its around there There are places with half of the stock that they have with more affordable prices overall than anywhere else so far one stop card shop is the best option Another thing is that they seem to get a majority of their stock not from a distributor but scalpers and then sell em at those prices wich is absurd to do in this point and time Along with their sealed product being comically expensive they never inventory their singles and usually resort to tcg player for listings a site thay has been riddled with market manipulation in the past and massively unreliable for an accurate price The final thing ive gotta say is the employees the main ones that are always there are amazing people to be around and work with and are very welcoming people and i enjoy their hospitality a lot i just in good conscience cannot and will not support their business financially until things either calm down in the market or they update their prices to be more competitive and cheaper for the average person on a tight budget or cannot afford those kind of expenses at the moment
I genuinely recommend you check out the other card shops in the area until cards n hobby improves their prices and slows down their purchasing from scalpers (who make this...
