Jean Ann's Bridal — Local services in Beckley

I entered the door of Jean Ann's Bridal in Beckley not expecting to find what I was looking for. My style isn't very traditional and in the other boutiques I had been in, all I saw was "boring", "too plain", "boring, boring, boring", "just...no." I'm not what one would call a "bridezilla", but I'm very picky about the way I dress and present myself. I grew up reading and looking at high fashion magazines, such as Vogue, Vogue Italia, etc. I was sure that I was going to have to find a dress online, which is risky, but I was going to find out my size because wedding and prom gowns run smaller than your usual pedestrian dress. So, here I am at Jean Ann's, admiring their selection compared to what I had been seeing in other boutiques, while the ladies working there were ALL trying to help me find something along the lines of what I was looking for. Luckily, that day and hour, I was the only one in the boutique (if you go any other time, it's packed full of fellow bride-to-be's and their families, etc., yet the ladies that work at Jean Ann's do not miss a beat making sure you're attended to!)...two of the three ladies working that evening were giving me random dresses to just see what size I would wear (it's been twelve years since my last prom, so I obviously wasn't sure what size I would wear in a formal gown where young ladies grow to be women), while the other lady was looking for what I wanted, which the keyword being: bling. Finally, a gorgeous gown was handed to me that I didn't even know I wanted until I tried it on. I wanted a short dress, but this one has a train and is very classy, yet has subtle intricate flowers in beaded, bright silver throughout the ivory lace. Needless to say, the ladies that work for Jean Ann's bridal definitely know what they're doing. They don't just sell you dresses and accessories like many other stores and boutiques. They pay close attention to your personality type, how you describe what you're looking for, etc. to help you find the perfect dress. Not only that, but they also help find accessories that will match perfectly with the dress you choose. Jean Ann's Bridal in Beckley and Charleston both have a very wide variety of the perfect formal dress you're looking for for your prefect day. This place woud be out of business if it were in a big city where it had some competition!! Refused to measure my daughter today for an out of state wedding since we weren't purchasing the dress at their store. We have spent thousands at this store before. Never again. Petty and overpriced because they think they can since they are the only store in town. Taking good care of your loyal customers and going above and beyond is only good business. This is not a good business .

CAME IN FOR SECOND TIME AFTER OWNER RESPONDED THAT THEY WOULD "GLADLY" HELP ME IF I CAME BACK IN WITH THE DESIGNERS NAME. I EXPLAINED THIS UP FRONT AS SOON AS I ENTERED STORE. Immediately both the "other" owner and the 2 young girls helping her told me they would NOT measure her so I showed them this review. The owner AND the girls kept arguing until I pulled up this review and showed it to them. Then the owner backed down and said very hatefully"Fine", grabbed her measuring tape and yelled "here measure her" then wrote down the measurements and slammed them down at me. I will NEVER use this store again. All three of them were rude and condescending even after I showed them this response to my initial review. They got mad at ME because the other owner assured me I would be helped if I came back in. WORSE excuse for a local store ever!!! Never apologized even after they realized they had jumped the gun, but instead kept arguing with me DESPITE the reply below saying they would help me if I came back in. And THEN got mad because I became upset. LOL!! P.S. just left the store and called Seams Easy in Daniel's to see if they would measure her and guess what their response was? Sweetly said, "NO PROBLEM". Again, will NEVER go back...

AVOID! This store uses COVID and the poor health of their owner to steal your deposit when all events are canceled. Please STAY AWAY! They bait you in with a smile and will rob you the first chance they get. NO REFUNDS! NO EXCHANGES!

In response to the owner, Jean Skaggs. I am unsure of your daughter’s personal issue however your response I find pathetically harassing towards me. I suppose in your world, no one else could possibly have the same name as your daughter. I welcome your investigation and instead of a simple Google review will escalate my niece’s treatment by your and YOUR store to the Attorney General’s office. I may add, this review was a result of how she was treated on the phone, not a personal attack against you or your daughter. You choose to create defamatory and unfounded remarks towards me which violates me as a person.
