I signed up to see McCall McPherson after my GP tested my thyroid and it came back off the charts. The first visit was great and informative—I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and McCall put me on a treatment plan of Armour and LDN. I appreciated that McCall had Hashimoto’s as well and understood how much I’d been suffering physically. However, two years later and my condition has worsened significantly and I realize that the care I was getting from MTC was actually making my health significantly worse.
First, they are not endocrinologists. They are not board certified. They are PA’s. This matters because I was prescribed Armour, which McCall insisted I stay on, only to later learn from my (board certified) GP that Armour can’t be absorbed by people with Celiac disease (me) and that it can lead to lymphoma when taken by people who have Celiac disease. I can’t imagine McCall would have knowingly prescribed this to me and insisted I stay on it for two years knowing that I had Celiac disease so I can only assume she does not have access to that science as a PA. Additionally, I was on Synthroid, but I learned from my GP that the dosage I was on was completely inappropriate for my body and more appropriate for a small child. McCall said I should be on Armour for my T3, and has you watch a video on T3 and T4. I had this fact checked by my GP and a friend who is an endocrinologist and they advised me that the logic behind her explanation is completely unscientific. Our bodies just need iodine to convert T4 to T3, you don’t need to take T3 directly and it can be very harmful to do so, especially if you have Celiac disease, and a history of cancer like myself. They also gave my an unscientific allergy test that made my dietitian laugh out loud as well as prescribed me LDN, which they claimed strengthened the immune system. People’s pharmacy even hosted a webinar on LDN, so it seemed legit. However, I once again ran it by more doctors who are board certified who informed me that the science behind LDN has not been peer reviewed and is not accepted by the medical community.
For two years I struggled with my condition worsening, losing income because I couldn’t work because I was exhausted all the time, going from a size 4 to a size 12, growing nodules on my thyroid (which were not there when I first saw McCall as she had me do a scan), all because she insisted on keeping me on medication that was doing absolutely nothing for me as my health got progressively worse. Furthermore, when I told them I was feeling awful and needed to get in to get help, scheduling a follow up appointment was ridiculously hard. Expect a lot of back and forth in the messaging portal of their app with multiple people who are not reading the previous messages in the thread. Booking online means you’ll have to wait 4-5 months for an appointment and they tell you to message them if you need care more urgently, but it’s not a good alternative.
I started off as their biggest cheerleader but I’ve left now really disappointed and feeling like I was scammed by marketing that preyed on people like me who were desperate for help. I’m only giving one star because I think they think they’re doing something good and they were always friendly, but it’s very dangerous to play with people’s health in this way. I hope more people will avoid the exorbitant cost of seeing them and receiving sub-par, sporadic, and...
Read moreI was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and hypothyroidism at age 15 and suffered from a variety of symptoms since I was in my early 20’s. I had brain fog to the point I truly believed I had attention deficit disorder and I was falling asleep on the couch many nights by 8pm. My weight was a constant struggle no matter how little I ate or how much I exercised. I shared all of this information with previous providers and it was always dismissed and I was basically made to believe I just needed to learn to live this way. When I found McCall, I was really intrigued but skeptical. I remember reviewing my lab values during my initial visit and I was floored when basically every component of my lab work was out of range. My antibodies were close to 300. She absolutely had a plan and believed she could help my address all of my concerns. I remember crying with relief but also not really believing my thyroid disease could be properly managed. She even told me that my metabolism would heal and I would be able to address my concerns around weight but that would be one of the last things to fall in line.
Fast forward to 2.5 years later, I no longer have brain fog and have plenty of energy. I’m able to complete tasks, my memory is sharp, and I have a tremendous amount of stamina. My antibodies are down to about 80 from 300. I’ve lost about 40 pounds over the last 10 months with no changes to my food intake or exercise. Yes, you read that right! Now, I know if you made it this far, you are probably wondering if I’m taking tons of medication. Nope, I take two medications for my thyroid. One is the same medication I’ve taken since I was diagnosed, it’s just the right dose.
McCall is incredibly talented and so very knowledgeable. She absolutely cares about her patients and finding solutions that are right for them. She’s passionate and has such a positive demeanor.

Read moreI have struggled with an underactive thyroid and hashimoto's for over ten years. I met with no less than 15 doctors during that time frame trying to get my levels just right. Most doctors said we would monitor my progress until my thyroid was no longer functioning- at which point we would take it out. They wanted to take out an organ that was trying desperately to work for me! I began my own research and ran into a podcast by McCall McPherson. I am not exaggerating when I say that podcast changed my life. McCall revealed her struggles with Hypothyroidism and Hashi's and it was IDENTICAL to mine. It was the first time that I have ever heard a medical professional who clearly understood, through her own testimony, the effects of this disease. Simple activities like walking took an enormous amount of effort, something not many people could understand- but she did! I live in Michigan but made plans to fly to Texas to meet with McCall, and while this may seem extreme to some, after 10 years of feeling horrible and paying thousands out of pocket I was desperate for help. McCall is professional, knowledgeable and relatable. She had me prioritize my list of ailments so that my treatment plan was realistic. Within 6 months my world has CHANGED. She changed my meds in small increments over three weeks and nailed it. My levels are all within her normal range. (They were FAR from it before) I have energy to play with my kids, I look forward to working out and my thoughts are more organized. Because of McCall I am a better mom, wife and employee. I tell everyone I know struggling with thyroid issues to...
