Artemis Mediterranean Grill — Restaurant in Bee Cave

Objectively, some restaurant staff were unaware, distracted, unaccountable (disregarded this family of color while seating several other families & couples although this family of color had arrived prior to them. Staff had knowledge this family of color was waiting for a table. Staff were unprofessional, discriminatory, & racist (biased & exclusionary). Staff reported they forgot that this family of color was waiting for a table due to them being busy. Staff provided multiple excuses for their actions although this was on a weekday & the restaurant was of a smaller size compared to other restaurants in the area. The other excuse that was given buy the restaurant was that a Caucasian family having a baby who had come in afterwards more deserving of a table than this family of color. Staff seated another family and several other Caucasian couples as well that came in after). The restaurant lacked a sign-in sheet to maintain order of customer arrivals. Staff lacked communication with other restaurant staff. The restaurant was out of utensils. The server later blamed, embarrassed, belittled, harassed, guilted, and shamed the family of color for the restaurant's own unfair treatment towards them. Additionally, the Caucasian family that had the baby provided their personal opinions loudly in front of the whole restaurant about the situation that they were not involved in, without this family of color initiating engagement with them. They agreed with the excuses the restaurant gave and sided with the Caucasian staff. The restaurant staff didn't attempt to address this escalation from the Caucasian family towards the family of color although ultimately this family of color was asked to leave the restaurant. This family of color had to leave prior to being able to order their food. This family of color had come to this restaurant for the first time to have dinner together to celebrate Father's Day early. The staff was very friendly and the wait time wasn’t that bad. But like most places these days it was over priced. And well for the money they could have done much better.

$17 for fish and chips, they gave me three small pieces of fish that would not spam the length or width of the palm of my hand.

$14 for lettuce wraps and one of the four leaves was covered with black rot, about one third of the leaf. The chicken filling that came with it contained three to four table spoons of grease that I had to drain from the container before I could put it in the lettuce leaf.

The staff was friendly and very courteous, but the quality of the food was sub par, especially given the prices. I try to support our local shop and businesses.

I think the rents are so high due to an inflated real estate market it forces them to charge nearly $40 for one order of fish and chips and one order of lettuce wraps. Given these facts they could have done a better job on quality…

I won’t be going back, and that stinks for me because we in the lakeway and bee cave area are limit in our dining choices…

Nice looking place, ambience seemed good. It took a bit for any staff member to acknowledge us. Once we were seated, the waiter took our drink orders. However, we didn’t see him much after that. We had to flag him down to order an appetizer ($17 for a small plate of over butter/oiled fried halloumi cheese) . The appetizer had been delivered and we were half way through eating it when we finally saw our waiter again and asked him for a check. He was apologetic, like he knew he had totally forgotten about, and brought it a few mins later. He didn’t seem to realize we were leaving because he had forgotten about us. We had been waiting for over 15 minutes without them coming to take our food order, and with a toddler, this pace was not going to work well. I am native to the area and just moved back, excited to try a new place out here. Servers/staff all looked very young, and maybe that was the reason for the lack of urgency. Wish we would have had a different experience! My husband and both have been servers, so we know some days just don’t go well but this was due to a lack of attention...
