I have been all around the USA and the World (yes Italy is included in that), and this is the NUMBER 1 Pizza Place by far in my opinion and the opinion of my parents, and everyone who tries this pizza after we tell them about it. This location is the closest one to me hence why my review is here. I have been to the other locations and Austin and the Food Quality is the exact same... It's awesome!! However... the service and the atmosphere of this location isn't great, and to be honest it's not even good. It's just not... like at all.
The dining room is very closed off, and employees are almost always very very spacey, like so spacey you have to wonder if they are all high like all of the time. While that may seem somewhat normal for a pizza place (Yes I have had pizza in Colorado and other mountain towns) it's not to this level, and it reflects badly on the restaurant as a whole. They seem nice, but to get anything done takes way longer than it should. They leave guests waiting while they talk amongst themselves, and due to how closed off the front of the restaurant is there is no way they can properly communicate with the front of house. Hence why I have almost always just opted for takeout I've eaten inside twice, and service was just abysmal at best even when your the only one in there it's slow.
Enough about the service, and atmosphere though... The pizza is quite literally incredible PERIOD, and deserves all of the stars in this review!!
I'm a thin crust guy personally so I really only get the bar style pizzas but the Detroit Style Crust is my parents go to.
My Top Pizzas: The Supreme - (Add Natural Casing Pepperoni) It's got all the veggies you want and sausage, and bacon, but you need that natural casing pepperoni it's incredible!!
The Temptation - For you meat only eaters it rocks!
Dad's Favorite - Omnivore Detroit Style (thick crust)
Mom's Favorite - Herbivore (she's a vegetarian) Detroit Style (thick crust).
Top Tips: Do yourself a big favor and go and pick up some organic basil from HEB before hand and use it liberally, I know I do. Also parmesan and red pepper flakes for the win don't forget to ask for them at Via 313. Also... want more than one pizza? Get the Half and Half (1/2 & 1/2) choose your favorite or the 2 that you want to try and you'll get three bar style slices of each... awesome!! It's also great to reheat either in the microwave, air fryer, or oven!!
I will be back despite the service, which should tell you everything you need to know about the quality of the food here, if this location could just fix the service I would have no problems changing this review to five stars... but for now on my blog it's definitely got the number one spot on my top ten pizza places in the world! But will it take up a page in the DD Travel Book? Only time will...
Read more3rd time trying. 1st time was good as it was their grand opening month. After that a definite NO. 2nd time, got sat on the patio after a half hour wait. Crickets. No wait staff checked on us. No water. No " can I get you a drink". Only the menu. Which became our only interaction with the restaurant. After reading it, and changing our mind numerous times as we waited for the (any) wait staff to take our order, no one ever showed up, although many passed right by us. Half an hour later, we left. Asked upon exiting, "was there a problem" Duh! 2 months later, let's give it another try. Friday night, 6pm. No problem getting a seat, outside again. A wonderful cooler evening for the patio. Plus we had a guest with us this time. First, the umbrella was closed and blocking the middle of the table. "Can we put the umbrella up?" "Well, there is no pin to hold it up, someone has stolen the pin" oh my! We tied it up so it wouldn't fall, then the seater/host stole the pin from the other umbrella to secure it. All good. Menus to read. All of a sudden a familiar feeling set in. No waiter yet. No water. Plenty of menus. Deja vu. Oh no. We asked the table next to us how was the service. She answered, not great. They were sitting a while and a few of their items were incorrect. I quickly went to the host area and asked if we could get a server and drinks while we waited, and informed him of our last incident at the restaurant. He assured us he would get someone out immediately. After another 10 minutes of being ignored, we decided to leave. Again! We informed two of the employees as we left. And that it was a repeat disappointment. They did and said nothing. Terrible service. There is a happy ending to this nightmare. We have always loved PIEOUS pizza in Dripping Springs but unfortunately their dining room has been closed since the Covid issue. We do online ordering and take out with them only because of this. We had heard that their dining room was open sometimes. We decided to take the 20 minute drive and had the BEST food, service and atmosphere. I suggest you try Pieous, after all the 20 minute drive is the same as sitting being ignored at a table, but after that you will get treated like a king/queen. And your tastebuds will be happy. Bee Cave residents were so excited to get a Via313 but seriously drive to Pieous or if you really have a need for a Via313 head to the Oak Hill location. They do...
Read moreThis location has NEVER gotten an order right for us since they opened. Last straw yesterday, we will never go back. When you spend $100 on 3 pizzas you should at least be able to expect it not to be burnt, which one was. Severely. And yet somehow all three were barely warm even though I picked up within one minute of the text saying they were ready. The poor girl working takeout put them back in the warmer(broken maybe?) while she had to spend almost 10 minutes to get an answer for why my order was incomplete -turns out they were out of meatballs, no biggie. At least she was able to get the missing crostini, but when I got home and opened the artichoke app it was less than half the amount of anytime I've ordered before aaand with no extra crostini which I paid for. Wouldn't have needed them anyways, there was literally only enough of the artichoke dip to use two of them. Worst bit is I could see the kitchen fully stuffed from the takeout counter and it seemed that I was the literal only customer. Here's hoping that at least I get eight bucks or whatever refunded for the missing meatballs 🙄 You only get the second star as a company because I went to the location in Oak Hill for almost a decade and can't remember a single time we had any problem other than waiting an hour and a half...
