Okay here's your quick take: Tasty food, a quick kitchen, nice staff. Better than iHop.😉 On to the details. I've been on a chicken fried steak (CFS) kick lately. They've got a couple of plates that involve CFS. "The Cowboy" is a plate where the CFS is served like a biscuit sandwich with cheddar and a fried egg, but the counter person said I'd end up eating it with a fork. I opted for the other choice "High Steaks" which was a plate of biscuits and gravy (two biscuits, not one sliced open) and a chuck of CFS sitting on top of each biscuit. The gravy is brown, not white, I presume due to the maple moniker, and the sausage within is non-spicy with okay flavor. It's probably what you'd expect sausage gravy to be, just not gray or white, but brown. The crust on the CFS was excellent and the steak itself was indeed flavorful and I didn't hit any chewy fat or gristle. It's all meat folks. The biscuits were not huge, but a nice size (1.5" high maybe and about as large as a mason canning jar lid). The biscuits were not doughy but fresh and cooked just right. Because I'm also a hashbrown fan I ended up ordering a side of their "smashbrowns" which I can only imagine they are named as such for being smashed with a spatula on a flat grill. While they seemed intriguing with green onion added to the mix, the green onion seemed a little too strong in the flavor for my taste. Also, the exterior seemed a little overcooked. Made me think these hasbrowns are deep fried.
I ordered a flavored coffee. It tasted luke-warm and like regular coffee with squirts of mocha. I could have skipped that and just went with water.
The atmosphere was nice and expansive feeling. When you enter the door you are encouraged to go through an isle line to the order counter. They take your order, you pay, sit down, and they call your name. The counter person said that for fun - instead of giving her my name for the order, that I give her my last Amazon order. I'm not sure if I understood that correctly but that was what I interpreted. Not sure I would have even picked up my order if someone had yelled out "Order for USBc to Display Port connector!" And why? For fun? I don't know. It was different. Maybe it was a survey, LOL.
The seating is interesting. A mix of low and high tables with chairs and barstools respectively. There were a few low tables pushed up against a long wall bench. There was a huge round family table and one booth table. There is a standard self-serve coffee counter for regular coffee, tea and sodas. A mix of rebel and soft country music played on the overhead speakers.
In summary, the food was good and bountiful. In fact, I could only eat half. I put the rest in a to-go box. I like the way the food was laid on the plate. It made it easy to divide and put in the box. The menu seems to offer a variety of traditional breakfast items including waffles. I'd come back to this place. I was here on a Wednesday morning about 9:45 am and there were only about 4 tables occupied. I'm sure on a weekend morning this place could have a line...
