As someone who prefers sweeter drinks, it's often hard for me to find low-carb options that work for my dietary restrictions, but the staff here were incredibly helpful and accommodating.
I ordered an Americano with half & half and sugar-free vanilla, but the barista went above and beyond to create a relatively sweet yet low-carb drink that was close to a cappuccino. While I'm not entirely sure if it was exactly what I ordered or some unique creation because they worked some magic to accommodate my dietary restrictions, it tasted absolutely delicious. I really appreciated their willingness to take the time to create a special drink just for me.
One thing to note is that they don't offer any sugar-free milk options or heavy cream (or maybe just didn't have any at the time? 🤷🏻♀️). Even the almond milk had added sugar. However, the half & half worked great for my order and I was impressed by the quality of the coffee (but I’m no coffee connoisseur). They also didn't have many sugar free flavor options.
The atmosphere of the shop was delightful - it was warm and welcoming, with plenty of seating and a cozy ambiance.
Although I didn't have any food during my visit, the options sounded tasty and the staff was more than willing to make adjustments to accommodate any dietary restrictions. They definitely spent quite a bit of time with me at the counter, patiently answering my questions about the sugar and carb count of their drinks and food items!
Overall, I highly recommend Austin Tea Xchange. With low-carb menu and drink options and staff that are willing to go the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction, this cafe...
Read moreI’ve lived less than 5 minutes from this new cafe for over a year now and finally decided to give it a try after reading the extensive and delicious sounding menu. I haven’t been this dissatisfied or disappointed in an establishment like this in a long time. Between my husband and I, we ordered two iced cinnamon bun lattes, an egg, cheddar, and sausage breakfast sandwich, a turkey pesto panini, a bistro panini, a cinnamon roll, and a white chocolate coffee muffin. All the details on these items sounded AMAZING and my hopes were incredibly high due the THREE people in line behind us letting us know that everything they served is amazing. Boy how wrong they were. The paninis were soggy and mushy, much unlike the crispy crunchy texture you expect on a panini. The breakfast sandwich was below the standards of my three year old child, and she is not a picky eater. The pastries were extremely dense and very difficult to enjoy, as we were expecting some light and fluffy. The lattes were clearly just vanilla lattes with cinnamon powder and a $1.48 up charge. The only reason this review isn’t one starts is because their espresso was only slightly above the starbucks espresso and the chips thats were served were obviously store bought Ruffles put into smaller paper bags, and who doesn’t like Ruffles? To top this all off, my husband immediately preceded to empty his stomach into the toilet not two minutes after finishing his panini. Overall, TERRIBLE experience. If you enjoy paying money for something worse than you could create at home, this is the...
Read moreI have been a patron of this wonderful eatery since they opened their doors. You could say I am a regular. The ambience is great, and the food is delicious, although at times the service is painfully slow. Nevertheless, I continue to go there because I take pride in supporting local businesses. So while my family was visiting this weekend from out of town, it was a no brainer to take them to the Tea Xchange for a late breakfast after my son's soccer game. Imagine my disappointment when we were treated rudely by the owner. Not the employees, but the owner himself. When my brother asked what comes with the Omelette (from the specials menu) he very sarcastically replied, "It's an Omlette. It's an egg with cheese with vegetables in it." 😳 When I asked if I could change something in my order after I had already placed it (I replaced a dish with a MORE expensive dish), he was incredibly annoyed. The place was not that busy...there was no long line waiting to order...he wasn't short staffed from what I could see. I am not sure what his problem was. We were 5 adults and two well behaved kids and easily spent $75 in there. It was unacceptable to treat us with anything other than respect. It will most definitely be a long time before I...
