If you are looking for tacos please do not hesitate to come here, do not go anywhere else. I have lived in Austin my whole life and One taco has some of the most seriously flavorful and heavenly tacos I have ever had. If I could eat from only one restaurant for the rest of my life, I would pick One Taco with a big smile on my face! I understand I might sound dramatic, but seriously the food is just that good! I've eaten quite a bit before at Torchy's and Taco Deli but this just blows them right out of the water. Torchy's just feels so overpriced for lack of fresh ingredients and questionable recipes. Taco Deli has some serious customer service problems with inconsistent and declining quality. Seriously, only come here!! I pay half the price I would somewhere else for some of the freshest food I've ever had in my life, always leaving satisfied. The Pastor and the Me latte are a must order and if I were to ever leave Austin, I would miss them dearly. The guacamole is a true example of how fresh these ingredients are! Amazing customer service as well (Everything about this place is amazing), Carlos took our order and he is the best!! He went out of his way to make us feel welcomed and feel taken care of. We are so lucky for One Taco to be in our neighborhood, truly a 5...
Read moreMy first time at any One Taco location and I'm sure we will be back. People in Austin talk about the great tacos but as someone who moved here from Southern California, it seems hard to find a good taco. But One Taco really seems to capture the authenticity of a street taco.
I tried their carne asada and Al Pastor and we tried both the street tacos size and their regular "Los Tacos" size. It seems the ingredients are the same. I'm not sure what meat they use for the carne asada but it's very different from carne asada I've come to expect from any traditional taco shop in SoCal. It's not bad, but the meat they use just has a different flavor that doesn't take like good steak.
Likewise, the Al Pastor is good... but just different. They do have the meet cooking on a turning spit. They seem to cut bigger, thicker slices of the al pastor than what I am used to. They sprinkle chopped onion and cilantro and overall, the taste was good.
They have red and green salsa to use on the tacos and I really liked their green salsa. I'm not sure if the tortillas are hand made on site but they don't taste like it.
Overall, the food is good but it could be better. I'm sure we will come back but we aren't going to go out of our way...
Read moreI went in there at lunchtime, and there was only one other party in there which was a little worrisome because I had never tried it before. I ordered the taco of the month and she told me that they would not be able to make that one for another seven minutes because they didn’t have any rice. I told her just to leave the rice off and then I ordered another tacos. Two tacos, some chips and salsa, were $22. The taco of the moth had about 1 ounce of meat in it and was not really even worth eating. The Carne Asada taco had a little better flavor, but once again, hardly any meat at all. The meat was somewhere between cold and room temperature on both of them. Being that we are in the taco capital, I would place it at...
