I was strolling up and down the aisles with a couple of friends when one of the older employees scolded us for using the markers (we didn't realize you couldn't sample them, as there were drawings all over the Posca stand.) Then as she walked away she said, "They must think this is the Walmart playground." We went down the next aisle and we're looking at the products when that same employee called security on us. The security guard told us we had to leave. We stood in shock for a second before she yelled at us that we had to leave now or she would call the cops on us. We started walking to the exit and were walking out a door when she corrected us and made us walk out the door in the check out area. We went to our friend's car in shock, and sat there for a minute wondering why we got kicked out. We think that she was stereotyping us based on our appearance, since we're all queer looking young people and the employee gave us a scathing eye-down at the door. We also think that they could've thought we were stealing, since they jumped to calling the cops? But we don't know what would have led them to that idea? We were just browsing. Horrifyingly awful experience. I've had nothing but bad experiences at this Michael's. The customer service is awful and the employees are so mean, and seem to be biased against teens. Edit: I went back and spoke with the store manager. She explained that the older employee has an issue with profiling and made up a story that we were drawing all over the walls. The manager believed her because this has been an issue recently. Right after she kicked us out, she profiled a black couple and tried to kick them out. The manager is going to discuss her behavior tomorrow and may end up firing her. Tammy the Michael's employee was not a nice woman, the manager was very kind. She offered us to come back and get some discounts. We will likely be taking her up on that offer. I retract my prior statement of all the employees being mean profiles, it was just Tammy who profiled us and mixed up the story. Another edit: We got compensated for the incident! Thank you so...
Read moreSince my beloved Joanns shut down, I have been at a loss. Where am I to go for my crafts? Hobby lobby? No! Michaels opened me with warm arms and comforted me in my time of grief. While they are certainly more organized than Joanns, I was pleased to find all and more of what I ever hoped for. I wide variety of on sale and not on clearance items. They had expensive items and nonexpensive items to fit all sort of budgets and crafts! And when I thought I was at rock bottom with losing my favorite fabric supply store I received wonderful news, MICHAELS IS ADOPTING JOANNS FABRICS! Whilst I do not know when, I have put aside my ideas and started my future crafts jar, to save up for the hundreds of thousands of dollars I am SURE to spend at Michaels once those fabrics are officially in store. Thanks to the lovely staff, I am able to find spooky items for halloween crafts and cheap goodies for junk journaling. Thank you Michaels for giving me a glimpse of hope and thank you my dear Maryn for finding me some spooky stamps to add to...
Read moreThe store is a godsend if you have any crafting projects you want to work on. I don't think there isn't anything they don't have that isn't somewhat mainstream to do they have a few of the very unique crafting items but what you don't find in their store you'll generally find online. The store itself is very clean never very crowded due to its size and staff is always quite polite. Find yourself with a desire to walk around the store for extended periods of time I would suggest resting in light clothing. The only downside I see is that their shelves are so tall that their air conditioning has a hard time moving the air around so you can get overheated pretty easily if you're just Meandering around. On a side note for those who have any interest in tabletop gaming it's actually a fairly cheap store to buy pre-painted Miniatures that are fairly sturdy and quality. Much cheaper than all the other specifically oriented figurines created by some of the big-name companies but that is a very...
