Somerset Gardens Apartments — Local services in Bellevue

Honestly, it's depressing that my review of this place went from 4 stars to 1 star in a span of 1 month. Lived here for 4 years and it's been okay as far as low income apartments go. Maintenance employees are nice. There's billiards, a pool, a sauna. The apartments themselves are from the 1970's and the property management company makes sure to get all the cheapest quality appliances and blinds possible.

Where I've been deeply disappointed has been in the move out process. We had a normal inspection and took good care of the apartment even though it was given to us in a roadside Motel 6 condition "due to the pandemic". Upon move out, they immediately sent me to collections to obtain carpet cleaning costs, which is illegal in Washington state. You cannot be charged for a carpet cleaning unless they can show that you caused more than regular "wear and tear".

I contacted the manager, Alina, about this and apparently this is something charged to all tenants when they leave. They take advantage of the vulnerable and of people not knowing their rights and scare them into paying. I contacted ex-neighbors I've had who were all deeply disappointed and hurt by this illegal racket Alina and the rest of the management company is complicit in. I lived in Somerset Gardens with my family for 2 years, but we needed a larger apartment due to the family size, so we moved to another location. But I really like the location of Somersed Gardens and the accessibility of all the shops within walking distance. My family and I felt comfortable living in Somerset Gardens. This is a great place to stay and a very beautiful place with lots of greenery and flowers. I would like to mention the staff and the Somersed Gardens office, they are always ready to help in various situations related to accommodation. All our work requests were corrected as soon as possible. Alina and her team work as a single team, I have not had any difficulties with them. Despite the fact that this building is not new but it is maintained in good condition and repairs are made in time. The excellent indoor pool and sauna was a favorite place of my family. I just thought I would put my two cents in. I was informed that I am the longest resident here. Some people look down their noses at me because I've been here for so long. Not married and no kids. The reason I stay here is because the people that run the place and my neighbors ARE my family. Alina, the manager, always keeps the complex up to date and always clean. I was in need some time back after a medical issue and I caught her leaving a bag of groceries at my front door. Love her. On the rare occasions the something needs fixing, they are quick with a response. Usually the same day if it's not too late but they do not ignoreyouor leave you hanging.
