My husband and I had the pleasure of visiting Anjappar restaurant with our friends on a Saturday afternoon, and I must say, it was an experience that left us completely awestruck. Anjappar is a true gem when it comes to offering an extraordinary variety of delectable dishes in their buffet.
As we stepped into the restaurant, the tantalizing aroma of spices filled the air, instantly whetting our appetites. The buffet spread was a feast for the senses, catering to both vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. The array of options was simply mind-boggling.
For meat enthusiasts, Anjappar's buffet was an absolute paradise. We savored the succulent Chicken Tandoori, bursting with smoky flavors, and relished the tantalizingly spicy Chicken 65. The Mutton Curry and Chicken Curry were culinary masterpieces, with each bite offering an explosion of flavors. The Fish Curry, with its perfect blend of spices, was an absolute delight. And the Chicken Biryani and Mutton Biryani were nothing short of heavenly, leaving us yearning for more.
Even for those with a penchant for vegetarian cuisine, Anjappar went above and beyond to impress. The tiffins section featured traditional favorites like fluffy idlis, crispy uttapams, and flavorful chole bhature. The addition of veg noodles, brimming with vibrant vegetables and bursting with flavors, was a pleasant surprise. The assortment of vegetarian dishes catered to every palate, ensuring that everyone in our group found something delightful to indulge in.
To complete our gastronomic adventure, the dessert section beckoned us with its irresistible offerings. The warm and syrupy Gulab Jamuns melted in our mouths, while the creamy and velvety Chocolate Mousse left us craving for more. And the aromatic Semiya dessert provided a delightful and satisfying conclusion to our meal.
The buffet at Anjappar is priced at $22.99 per person, which we found to be an absolute steal considering the exceptional quality and wide variety of dishes available. However, it's important to note that the popularity of Anjappar means it can get quite crowded. We experienced a wait of approximately 15-20 minutes before securing a table, as the restaurant does not accept reservations. To ensure a seamless experience, we recommend arriving right at 12 p.m. when they open for lunch.
The impeccable service provided by the attentive and friendly staff further enhanced our dining experience at Anjappar. Their warm hospitality made us feel truly welcomed, adding an extra touch of charm to our visit.
If you're searching for a culinary adventure that will take your taste buds on an unforgettable journey, Anjappar is an absolute must-visit. The restaurant's commitment to serving hot and delicious food, coupled with their wide range of delectable options, makes it a culinary haven for food enthusiasts. We left Anjappar with hearts full of happiness and appetites thoroughly satisfied, eagerly looking forward to...
Read moreThere is no staff to properly welcome diners and the one guy there just comes in and nods and mumbles about it taking 15 minutes to be seated. We waited and he didn't bring any menus but assumed we'd read the takeout menus in the waiting area, like I could remember everything from 20 minutes ago. Everything is designed to save the restaurant money, but the prices are still the same. There's no cold water, just cheap bottled water, which is fine but they have no ice or glasses. When we asked, another guy mumbled again "there's no ice and shook/nodded his head". The only dishes they have to wash and clear are the plates and serving dishes. They have large chunks of food but no knives to cut. The food is somewhat ok but no one is available to ask for anything or check if everything is satisfactory. The same guy that took the order just walks back and forth with his cell phone to his head deep in thought like they're going to do surgery or something. When they brought the items, they come in random order; One order for appetizer, then one person's entree, then another appetizer, then the Mango Lassi's after reminding them (they're already pre-poured into plastic take-out cups), then more entrees...They don't have an idea of bringing everyone's order together. If we don't start eating right away the food gets cold. I thought I'd wait a few minutes and the dosa I got became cold and hard and turned into chips. There's very poor service and attention to simple detail for the prices they charge. A lot of the restaurants in Bellevue have closed and even as the area gets occupied or renovated, the stores, restaurants and other venues are terribly staffed and operated. Today there were only 2 other tables occupied at the time. There is too much inconsistency to risk wasting our money in these places.
This isn't a place I'd ever take time to come to. They try to satisfy the needs of the customer like they're still in India...Glasses and ice aren't some major luxury item. For the price, the service needs to be better and more welcoming. No one even looks over to your table. On top of all that, they continually play some sort of crazed sounding playlist of Indian movie songs in EDM format. The music is too loud...It's not a night club or concert. There are reviews here from people that are quite laughable. One guy says this place was the best Indian food in the US...Either he's eaten only here or he's been dining with the rats in the sewers...like really? He definitely hasn't been to Texas. This place has an "OK" rating for food quality. I guess I know what...

If one wants to witness a true comeback story, one should dine in Anjapper. This resturant has the best buffet in the area (period). This is genuinely authentic South Indian food. Service has improved by leaps and bounds. In general buffets have mostly mediocore for most part and one or two good items. But last Sunday every dish was special and we did try to find a loose end but to our delight there was none. I think after a decade I suffered from food comma 😉.
We are very big fan Falooda and kuttu parotha there. It's genuinely food for soul. Thanks to the new management and specially Venkat to salvage this restaurants from ruins. Hope the quality is maintained and we keep enjoying the south Indian delicacy.
I never thought I could ever eat thalapakktu birayani again, thanks anjapper.

I have been to South Indian hotels in many cities across US but never tasted anything close to being authentic like this restaurant. I generally wait for three visit to give my review but anjappar is so good that I am writing this after 2 visits. The kothu parotha reminds me of the Chennai streets where I used to have it and it's used to be my staple food. Natukodi biryani was fabulous. Without dosas the south Indian food is incomplete and dosas are perfect. The masala in the masala dosa could have been better but the quality of dosa is just awesome, crisp fresh and properly cooked. Few items I tried were even better than the velechery anjappar. I would definitely go back.
Edit 1: Down voting 1 star. This place is not run by professionals anymore . Waiters are roaming around in trousers. Glasses are dirty. The waitress are rude. Takes around 50 mins to 1 hour to get one order. Nothing seems to organised or business ready. Feels like a family runs this place just kill time. Waiters doesn't have any clue what food item they are bringing to the table. Sad to see a good placed getting...
