I do not recommend buying a car from these guys. With the exception of Nicky, who was very pleasant, cordial and accommodating, everyone else was your typical used car sales guy (surprised they weren't wearing plaid suits). My wife liked a car and we decided to take it for a drive. MY wife had to go inside to get someone to help us because no one even took the time to come greet us. A guy who later identified himself as a manager came out and asked for my license so he can make a copy of it. I should have known better, but I gave it to him anyway. A day later we would get a call from the dealership asking us when we were coming back for the car. When we said we weren't planning on coming back, the guy laughed on the phone and said, "You have to come back, you left your license at the store." Wow, I thought that trick had gone out back in the '70s, but given the rest of our experience, it's clear what type of guys work at this place.
So, after looking at other similar vehicles over the next few days, we decided to go back to the dealership to get my license. Nicky was very nice and apologetic but the rest of the group made seem it was my fault. I explained to them I gave the guy my license (in good faith) and he should have returned it to me.
Nevertheless, we ended up buying the car. We went thought the finance process with a guy who looked annoyed to have to stay later than usual to finish our transaction. We begin to sign all of the necessary documents and he presents one as being a "document fee". I question why I need to pay a document fee and responds annoyed by the questions that everyone pays that. Well, the next day when my bank asked me to provide a bill of sale, we discover that the form I signed was not a "document fee" disclosure, it was an anti-theft system warrantee agreement. I was being charged for something I did not buy and was misrepresented to me at time of sale. Nevertheless, before closing on the loan with my bank I called the dealership and the same "manager" who first helped us said that this was a fee for security etching on the vehicle. I told him I did not ask for it and was not made aware there was a charge for it. When I told him we would simply return the car, he said he would have the finance guy remove it.
Being that he was a so called "manager", I asked him if he felt it was good business for him to have held my license and for his finance guy to misrepresent the charges and basically try to defraud me. Though I expected him to apologize and assure me that this was just a mistake and miscommunication, to my surprise, he responded with, "Think whatever the hell you want. You left your license here, we didn't keep it on purpose". I told him that I had not left it. I told him I gave it to him and expected he would have given it back. He once again said, "think whatever you want" and transferred me to the finance guy.
I explained to the finance guy, with the same door-knob demeanor as before, acted like he didn't remember me or my wife, despite the fact that he was upset he had to stay and extra hour a few nights before. So I explained to him that he had misrepresented the document he had me sign and like the "manager" before him, he simply said, "whatever. We took the charges off the bill". I asked him if he thought this was an honest was to do business and again he said, "Whatever, we took the charges off what more do you want me to do." I thought an apology would be nice, but coming from this guy it would be insincere anyway so I didn't bother.
Not wanting to deal with this unethical and unprofessional curmudgeon, I simply told him to send me the revised bill of sale so I can give it to the bank.
Surprisingly, the car is running well and my wife really likes it. But I will never buy a car here again and I will warn everyone I can to avoid buying even a tricycle from this place.
Nicky would do well to work for a different dealership. Hopefully she doesn't hang around this place long and risk turning into one of them. (Plaid would not be a good...
Read moreWhat an incredible buying experience it was at Hamblock Ford when I purchased my 2022 Antimatter Blue Raptor! I have dreamed of owning a Raptor since they were first introduced in 2010, and the reception I was given at Hamblock made the whole experience better than I expected!
I contacted their company via a CarGurus search for my dream truck; however, my expectations werenât too high, given that most other dealerships would tell me âSorry, that pickup isnât available, but we have other models that will suit your needs.â Well, I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised when they said it was there, it was available, and that they would hold it for a few days.
I made arrangements to fly from Florida to an airport close to their dealership, and then had to change my flight to Ohare, which is an hour away. Based on my experience with other dealerships, I immediately started shopping for a rental car, Uber, Lyft and even taxis, in order to get to the dealershipâŚ. Well, Hamblock wouldnât have any of that, and they sent me a ride with Larry driving! Larry pointed out interesting sites and was extremely polite and excited for me. The 1 hour ride felt like 10 minutes! Larry was awesome!
So we get to the dealership, and everyone treated me like royalty, with the owner, Joe Hamblock, personally greeting me and making a fresh pot of coffee!
After bringing the pickup around for a computer tutorial and test drive, Sales Consultant Shawn Wedig gave me his personal # and told me to reach out with any issuesâŚ.I havenât needed anything yet, as the Raptor is perfect, however, he has checked on me during my journey home and has responded timely and professionally!
Then we get to my least favorite partâŚ. The paperwork! Well, these folks have that down to a science! Hannah Rostamo had everything ready and within minutes she had all the requisite paperwork and information to make that part of the process completely painless!
Lastly, the Internet Sales Consultant, Reece Hampton, started this whole process with me. From the moment I reached out, Reece worked with me on holding the Raptor and making this whole process go off without a hitch! His professionalism and attention to detail are second to none, and any dealership would be lucky to have him!
Hamblock Ford is a rare gem of a dealership! From inquiry to purchase, this itâs the most outstanding car buying experience Iâve ever had! Thank...
Read moreI am very disappointed with the lack of customer service that I was provided with at this dealership. I located a used vehicle on their website which I was very interested in purchasing.
At 11:17AM today I called the dealership to confirm that the SUV was available to test drive and to purchase today. I spoke to a young female on the phone who assured me that the car was available, she made an appointment for me, and told me to come in and ask for the used car sales manager. I let the female know I would be arriving within the hour as I had a 45 minute commute and needed to pack up my 2 year old son. I also called my wife at work and asked her to meet me at the dealership to test drive the vehicle.
I arrived at the dealership at 12:15PM today and a female greeted me. I informed her that I had made an appointment to test drive and hopefully purchase the SUV and she proceeded to walk into another office and speak to the manager. The manager then came out and informed me that the car sold 30 minutes ago and that the buyers were still in the dealership. There was not a single customer in the dealership that I could see except for a few in the service department. I received no courtesy call informing me that the car was already purchased or that a party was currently negotiating a price for the vehicle, etc. I had already drove around the entire dealership to see the vehicle myself before entering the inside and I could not locate it.
I was and am still extremely disappointed with this dealerships lack of customer service. A common courtesy call notifying me that the car was in the process of being sold in that 30 minute window would have been appreciated (if the SUV was even available at all when I called). I will not be returning nor recommending this dealership to my friends/family. Not only did my wife leave work to meet me, but I also drove almost 2 hours round trip to hopefully purchase the SUV. I am very familiar with car dealerships, have close family members managing local dealerships and just a month ago purchased a new Acura MDX for my wife. Overall, a really unfortunate,...
