At the end of February 2024, my check engine light came on. We took it into Kunes in Belvedere, Illinois. The part it needed was back ordered. They were kind enough to let us use a loaner car. Fast forward to October/November 2024, the part FINALLY came in. But this is where things went haywire. Depending on who you talk to, the car was fixed, and put on the lot with the hood not totally latched. Or the car had a dead battery and they maybe pushed it out from the building to jump it. By the way, the car is electric. The battery is in the trunk. Anyway, a strong wind gust came and blew the hood up and consequently the hood flipped back and wrecked my car. They took the car to their body shop 30 miles away, without my knowledge. We kept calling to find out when my car would be ready, after all, GM had told us that the part had arrived. They finally around November 20th, told us that the car was wrecked, and their legal department was reviewing it. And then silence. We called and waited. Then it seems that the paralegal was supposed to notify the insurance company, but she didnât, and then she was on vacation. Around December 20, the insurance company finally contacted us, and asked about our faulty hood latch. Really? The insurance company has finally told us how much we will receive for my totaled 2017 car. Not as much as I would have expected, but we have tried to be gracious during this debacle. Yesterday, we found out the price of one of the cars we have been looking at. Kunes did not drop the price by even one dollar. When we asked about that, we were told that it belongs to a different Kunes, so they canât drop the price. I thought they were all owned by the Kunes family? They were negligent, and we have been lied to, we have been ignored, we have never raised our voices. And yet, they expect us to give them more money after they destroyed my car. According to their website and all of their advertising, âKunes Auto Group has stayed true to our values with our slogan of Faith, Family, and Giving Back. These four words embody what Kunes Auto Group is all about.â Faith and Values? We feel that is an advertising ploy for trying to show how wonderful they are. 1 John 1:6 NLT âSo we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth.â I will not EVER buy a car from them, or even go there...
Read moreThe outcome was satisfactory. Getting there is another story. I drop my truck off on Friday morning. Late in the afternoon I receive a link to a picture of a bent push rod with no context of whatâs happening. The next day , I get a call telling me of the bent part and that they need authorization for 785$ to tear it down. I received a call the next day to get more info on my extended warranty. Great. I hear nothing until I call on Tuesday to find out whatâs going on. I am informed that itâs apart , waiting for an inspector, which will happen in 24-48 hours. I call on Friday, since no one calls me, and leave a message for someone to call me. Saturday, I call back again, because again no one calls me. I talk with Ryan the service manager and he explains whatâs happening. My next contact was Thursday when I hear that my truck is done from John. I ask about all of the other things that I had presented when it was dropped off. John was unsure about the parking brake and said he would check himself and let me know. Guess what, no return phone call. I come to pick my truck up and ask about what was found with the parking brake. There were no notes, so the advisor call John to find out, and no real answer was given. My take away from my service center experience at Kunes is simple , if you want to be kept in the loop and current on whatâs happening with your vehicle while itâs being repaired, forget it, it ainât happening. But, if it pertains to money, they are on top of it and you will definitely...
Read moreIf I could give this place no stars at all I would.. I've had my car for under a year, 2 days after driving off the lot the water pump went out couple weeks after that crankshaft went bad but then the thermostat then the oil cooler component and the gasket, following with the turbo going bad... I reached out the management team to try to help me and I was meant with a hefty number. I opted out of getting a warranty because they guarantee of me that they would fix any issues that happened given that the car only had 65,000 miles on it. (I know very stupid of me) They replace the water pump and did a janky job on the crankshaft to where I had to take it somewhere else to be replaced. When I reached out about the oil cooler component they estimated Three times higher than any other Auto body that I had reached out to. This car has been nothing but problems and I now understand why the previous owner wanted it gone. I should have went with my gut and stayed away when I left the first time...... But God were they persistent emails phone calls and text messages so I felt that this may be a trustworthy place it seemed like they truly cared but I was definitely bamboozled I will never refer this company to anybody. I don't want anybody to have to go through what I am going through currently. Shame on you kunes for preaching about how you work with people when in all reality you're just scum like the rest of them. Disgusting...
