It’s too bad this is the only RC hobby shop anywhere around central Oregon. I Recently got into the hobby and bought a 3S battery to run in my rc car. I was told that I could run the 3S battery in the truck as long as it was only for a short duration. The motor burned up on the first pass. Even though the staff said it would be ok to do this it was not warrantied. I sorted out the motor replacement myself.. Now I have preordered a new rc car and have called to ask the staff when it will be in on several occasions. I was told it should be here by the end of the week (Sept 4th) called the following week and was told it should be here by the end of that week. It’s still not here yet and I’m getting tired of calling. Does the staff not have any way of looking into this to get a definite date of when it should arrive? Aside from all of that myself and my friend have both paid for soldering work to be done here. Each of us have had issues with connections. Not to mention there was nothing said when my friend switched from IC5 to a Deans connector on his RC. He has been out of the hobby for a while and should have been told the deans could not handle the amount of current draw, needless to say his wires burned in two. So now I have gone out of my way to learn how to solder and bought all of my own soldering equipment. We haven’t had any issues since. I hope that services will improve in the future so others can enjoy shopping here and receive quality soldering work as well as valuable information that could save them A LOT of headache and money in...
Read moreI've been there twice over the last year and left without ever finding out how much the items I was after cost (styrene modelling supplies last time on 2/26/17). Whole sections of items have no prices on them. There are a couple stickers on racks that give prices, but it's unclear what they refer to, or if they are even current. Staff are usually chatting for long periods of time with people at the counter, so it's difficult to get help. I tried to use my phone to look up pricing info on their website, but it's "Under construction". I managed to catch a clerk and brought them back to the items I was looking at to ask for info on prices. He basically said that there was a range of a couple bucks to eight bucks or more on the different kinds of items, and he couldn't tell me what anything costs without looking it up. Maybe they are aiming at a different kind of customer, but when I'm there to pick up supplies, I'd like to know how much they cost before I head to the register. A possible range of twenty bucks to a hundred bucks for less than a dozen items is a little crazy if you are working with a budget.
I wanted to support a local business rather than buying online, and if they really do have "internet prices" as their website claims, I probably would have become a regular customer. But the way they do business makes it much simpler to buy online. I wanted to message them about these problems, but their website has no e-mail and their Facebook account has no...
Read moreI will admit I had one really bad expirence that put me at 3 stars.
I got a ECX tourment a few years back as a present for Christmas, which seems to be the crown juel of the store. It was decently priced and came with the ability to repair and upgrade the parts. For the past two years I have been returning frequently for parts as I prefer to see what I am buying versus ordering.
Recently I went in and decided to upgrade my motor for the hefty price of $110. Only planing on paying that and a few parts I ended up nearly dobbling my bill and paying nearly $200 unexpectily
This was due to the usally friendly staff presurring me into upgrading my gear box for another $50. I don't know if it was because I am a teen that I was mistaken for a fool. I then decided to upgrade my rear drive shaft as my own decission for $40, only to be sold a completely wrong brand of part.
I figured this was the end of my story but as I was working on my truck and pulling out my new parts did I discover that parts for Traxus trucks where in the bag and billed to me... I never asked for anything close to such product.
I think I am done shoping at your store and am just going to order directly from ECX/RPM from now on.
Like I said this only happend once with the only rude staff member there... but if you are a parent letting your kids shop here make sure they are only getting what they wanted... nothing more...
