The family was visiting Bend and for this evening, we thought to go find some Mexican food. I understand that there are a few good places but most of them are food trucks or places that mostly have outside seating. At the moment, outside is very smoky due to near by fires. So due to what felt like a lack of suitable choices, we opted for Mazatlan. We’ve been to this chain of restaurants before and liked them.

Unfortunately, it would seem that they are NOT a part of the chain. As the restaurant did not have the same feel. But ok.. they had inside seating so we gave them a try.

The ambiance was good. Similar cliche’ Mexican feel. This is kind of what I expected. But was clean and kept up inside.

As we looked at the menu, they had a large selection. Much which I expected. The one surprise that I noticed was the nickel and dime they charge. Drink refills, 25¢. Sour cream… $2, extra chips and dip same.

I had the #10 combo, Enchilada, tamales. Chimichanga. Son had a quesadilla, and wife had a burrito. Everything tasted good, just not great. The flavor profile was right… just mild. The refried beans were thin and runny, but I’ve seen some places do this, so it might have been intentional. I thought to myself, good place to take someone getting introduced to Mexican. One flavor they weren’t shy on was cilantro, so if you are of the group that thinks it’s soap… be aware. Almost forgot, the salsa was amazing. Thick, chunky, tasty, and stayed on the chip.

The staff was nice and friendly… when they showed up. I had to go find someone to get my water filled.

As a backup standin, it was good, but I’m still looking for that amazing...

My husband, children, and I had just gotten into town to take my Dad out for a belated Father’s Day dinner with the family. We decided on Mazatlan as we have frequented there many many times over the years. While we understand the restaurant was busy, and they seemed understaffed, we were extremely disappointed with the service we received. To start with we waited over 15 minutes for even our drink order to be taken. In addition we needed to wait over 40 minutes for our food, this made it difficult given the fact we had a hungry toddler and newborn dining with us as well. (Not their fault of course) but it did make it a greater challenge for us. We didn’t receive any drink refills. Nor were we even checked on after our food was delivered. In fact my mother is the one who got up to pick up silverware for us and to grab “to go” containers for our leftovers. I think what disappointed me the most was upon my departure I went fo settle my check and I remarked to the waitress that we were less than thrilled with our experience tonight, also to remind her we didn’t receive part of our order and to be sure I was not charged for that portion. The way in which she responded is something I won’t soon forget. She told me “It is what it is.” Now I didn’t even know how to respond to this statement. She works in hospitality and customer service. Clearly a lesson she has not fully grasped. Having worked in customer service for close to two decades I found myself deeply let down and felt the need to share. I truly hope the customer service improves and unfortunately we are very...

12/30/2016-Rice tasted dry and some pieces were crunchy, beans were ok. I ordered shredded beef for my tamale and taco. Taco was super greasy and tamale was mostly bread, little meat. The waitress never came back to check on us and we waited 15 minutes for a check before going to the register. The waitress came running up, out of breath as if she was running around and she mentioned how busy it was. There were 5 tables occupied each with couples and only a few families. We tried to not leave a tip but there wasn't an option to not leave a tip and waitress rudely said "you need to choose one." well we left a $3 tip since there wasn't away to not leave one. About half an hour later, me and my friend are now super sick with aching stomachs, and frequent the bathroom, feeling weighed down and nauseous. It's sad how horrible of an experience this was compared to the Redmond location. I know to go to Redmond location instead if I want...

First time trying this place and probably the last. Ordered an app (never received it), two drinks and two food plates. Ordered my drink on the rocks... received it blended... not a huge deal but why ask how I want it if it’s not going to be made like that... The only thing I like was the taste of mango margarita (even though it wasn’t made exactly as I requested) and beans lol can’t mess up on the beans ha hence my rating being two stars along with the nice waitress. The shredded beef chimichanga was by far worse I’ve had. Meat and sauce didn’t taste good. Prices are decent but not for this quality of food.

This food was pretty good but I think the prices were a little high for the taste of the food. It's a nice atmosphere but it definitely has a made by the family feel even though they have several locations. The wait staff was super slow in getting us our check and the food and drinks took a long time to get to us. So the food is decent but slightly over priced and the drinks are super over priced. It's an alright place to eat if you want somewhere nice but if you're trying to eat on a budget avoid this place.
