Terrible experience with new washer / dryer purchased from Palmers. I will say that the one bright spot is the technician Josh who most recently came out to fix the dryer. Josh is generally knowledgeable, pleasant and professional which is a lot more than I can say for Chuck - the other technician who is also the owner, and the two women who answer the phones. We purchased a new washer and dryer last summer from Palmers in the interest of using a local company. Chuck did the installation and was generally unpleasant but seemed competent. However, soon after the installation, the dryer smelled of burning plastic. Chuck came back out, was very annoyed and told me that there was no smell. A few days later the dryer stopped heating. Chuck once again came out and proclaimed "well this is why the dryer was smelling like it was burning - there was a faulty wire which melted the plastic around it". I was a bit astounded about his attitude. He ordered a new part and did not give an estimate of how long it would take to get it in or get scheduled to come back out. The front desk women were of little help - I got to hear a LOT about how busy they were, how swamped the company was, how it could be a couple of weeks before we would be scheduled. I was very irritated at that point since this was a brand new dryer. Chuck eventually came back out and installed the new part and the dryer seemed to work. As this is a seasonal home, we were not consistently back at the house until this past June. The washer / dryer was very lightly used throughout the rest of the year. I started to notice black marks on our clothes after they were in the dryer (black marks that do not come out). I waited a bit to call back since calling Palmers is generally an unpleasant experience, but ultimately called a few weeks ago. Once again, a whole stressed out sob story about how busy they all are (it's of course the summer) and I agreed to leave a key with them as we might not be home when they could put us on the schedule. They were supposed to come out last Monday but I heard nothing. I then assumed I had written the date down wrong and that they would be here the following Monday, but when I called, I was told that Josh had been here and that they had called and left a message - which they did not. Eventually, after realizing that they entered the ticket incorrectly, and in fact nobody had called me, they scheduled Josh to come back out to replace a part that was causing the black marks. Incredibly the night before he arrived, the dryer once again stopped heating. This must be a bum dryer (GE) or a bad installation or both, because this is pretty much a brand new machine. Josh was able to replace the bearing, and the dryer did start heating again. He didn't seem all that convinced that there was really a heating problem because he was explaining the basics of doing laundry to me (hello - I have 3 kids - I have done a LOT of laundry in my life). But at any rate, it seems to be fixed for now. I am giving this company a 1 star review because I am treated like I am the enemy every time I call. While it is true that I have gotten frustrated with them after they are unhelpful or non responsive, I don't think I am being particularly high maintenance or unreasonable to expect that a brand new dryer actually dries clothes. In the future I plan to buy appliances elsewhere (even from big box stores) as opposed to dealing with this...
Read moreI have been a customer of Palmer's for a few years now and a few appliances, but I guess they don't care about keeping their customers for future purchases. My most recent purchase was a GE washing machine the Friday before Labor Day weekend. When they installed it (super friendly, they've installed for me before) they failed to balance it, no biggie. Things were spinning out of control for a week or so and then Josh came and balanced things out (super friendly and knowledgeable). Unfortunately, when I do a fairly large load it still spins out of control even though I'm pretty sure it is totally balanced and it's an extra large capacity and I never have too much in there. I have to re-adjust the clothes. Not okay. Also finally did a bleach wash and it actually bleached two subsequent dark colored loads after the white bleached one. So Chuck the owner came out to check it out (NOT friendly, quietly annoyed upon arrival, everything is user error, etc, etc.) You see where I'm going here. He tells me I need to hit the deep fill button. I tell him I DID, in the past, Josh told me to, but only on larger loads, which I had to stop doing because then it will spin out of control (I actually have video of it, LOTS of video of it) It looks like the machine will actually scoot right out of my house. But his little error detecting machine he has hooked up says I haven't been using the deep fill, so I'm not using the machine right. Well no. I don't use the deep fill because I've only done tiny little washes because I'm afraid to do large loads because it will spin out of control. Also he says he has this machine at home and he has NEVER seen this happen with the bleach. So after him telling me I'm not using it right again and talking over me and me telling him the machine is a piece of junk, we both told each other to have a nice day in lieu of other not so nice words. I wish I had my old machine back and just repaired it. I will eventually get rid of this hunk of junk and find a machine that works properly, but it won't be through Palmer's, which I thought was my place for appliances. I'm sad and disappointed. It was close...
Read moreWe purchased a Speed Queen washer and dryer set. We started to notice that the washer drum would always lean to the right during wash cycle. I called and asked for this to be checked out. The owner did come to our house and I opened the door and said hello and his response was "I guess the washer is in here". He just walked in and did his thing. I found him to be unfriendly.
I then noticed that it started going out of balance and called the main Speed Queen company ( Alliance ) and was told to call the company that I bought it from and have them replace the springs and ring. I did call and the secretary said she would order the parts. I waited for some time and didn't hear anything so I emailed. I received an email back but it didn't say anything of the new problem I was having so I called. The secretary answered and she sent me to the owner and I felt he wasn't happy about it at all. He didn't even give me the chance to explain the new problem we were having. All I can say is I found his attitude to be rude and very unwelcoming and unprofessional.
I went to another Speed Queen appliance center and they came out and replaced the ring and springs. The problem is now fixed. I wanted to order a new refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher from them but now I know its not a good idea. HIS REPUTATION IS THAT ITS HIS WAY OR NO WAY.
Delaware Appliance stopped in and what do you know....They replaced the ring and springs and problem...
