Hays Market — Local services in Berthoud

This is my go to for all things grocery (and sometimes gifts & home decor)! There’s nothing better than supporting a small, local business. I stop in almost daily for groceries. I won’t lie, prices are about 10% higher than surrounding towns grocery stores, but I don’t mind. The amount I would spend on gas & impulse buys at big box stores far exceeds what I spend on a daily basis here. Also, if you shops the “ad” and sales, you will likely spend less than other stores.

They recently switched to paperless ads, and offer a bring your own bag credit, so it’s also nice to see that they are conserving resources and going green. Hays also donates money to our local schools, if you save your receipts & turn in at the front offices of the schools. The app is a nice addition as well, getting coupons and $5 off when you spend $500 is great. I’m going to spend that much over time anyways, it’s nice to get a little extra off every once and awhile.

Hayes is my exclusive home town market. I don't shop anywhere else. If you like friendly service, easy parking, good prices (lots of stuff is cheaper than King Soopers and Safeway if you get the Shur Fine, store brand), and lots of homemade sausages, like andouille and Boars Head deli meats and cheeses, homemade coleslaw and potato salad, this is the place. They have a good selection of organic produce and brands carried in other high end health food stores. What prompted me to write this review today, was I only just found out that they bake their own cakes, pies and breads in their Johnstown store. I ordered a birthday cake for a friend, carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, and it was as delicious as a Whole Foods cake and less than half the price! I cannot say enough great things about this market! We are new to town and this was our second time shopping here. The staff are so friendly and go above and beyond. They made sure I downloaded the app to save $5, were so kind to my son, carried out and unloaded my groceries without me ever asking AND when my son left his favorite toy behind they made sure it was kept safe until we returned. When I went back to see if I could find it they recognized us as soon as we walked in the door and went to get it from lost and found.
