A&W Restaurant — Restaurant in Berthoud

Update: 3/29/2025 Another great experience at this A&W while passing through town! The young adult staff are all super attentive and friendly. It says a lot about this towns youth and a well managed store. Still 5 out of 5!

While visiting the town of Berthoud for a high school event, we happen to go to A&W on the way out of town and had a great first experience. The place is not real big and authentically vintage, but the staff are super friendly and attentive and do a good job keeping the place clean and getting customers served. Some tables have the old style telephone to place your order.

Our order came out quickly, accurately and was delicious and the best part was getting fresh made A&W root beer in a cold frosty mug! It even has a vintage drive up and order and eat from your car if you prefer. Parking is limited due to small footprint and being on a corner.

We enjoyed it so much that on a recent trip to Rocky Mountain National Park we made plans to stop here again on our way back It was another busy Saturday and once again the staff were Rock Stars ! The subtle thing that I noticed on this trip was the food comes out looking just like the pictures on the menu. Seems like a simple concept, but many fast food restaurants underdeliver in this area. For me the drive in burger experience has always been A & W and luckily I have been fortunate enough to live in a place that had more than one of them within a driving distance. They have been a staple and my favorite root beer since I was a child and it was always a treat to go to one for a burger.

Compared to the other fast food chains, there is something special about being able to get a simple burger with very little hassle that is ordered and brought to my car on a tray. This particular location has always had a pretty polite and friendly staff that is patient while you order and easily able to satisfy special requests for toppings.

The prices have obviously gone up as the times are changing, but they are still somewhat low compared to the quality and service at the other chains and the portions you get make it pretty worth its cost. The fries are usually overflowing and the burger patties themselves don't look like scraps.

Overall I would say that A&W is still my goto place for a basic flavorful burger with that classic drive in experience. The rootbeer and floats are amazing, the cheese curds are huge and the burgers are...

Food was good but terrible customer service from a shift manager named Kylee (I believe thats correct.) She was screaming and cussing at one of her staff in front of children and customers. It was definitely uncalled for, I have managed various different fast food Restaurants and have never treated my staff or the customers around me with such disrespect! I'm not even sure as to why she is a manager. I have had many friends and families, and even strangers tell me about how poorly she treats her staff, and how her language and attitude has affected them and others they know. Not sure how she is still working there when there seems to be an excessive amount of complaints. I have never noticed this personally from her until last night and I was horrified to see this from a "SUPPOSED" shift manager. Me and my family will NOT be returning if this behavior is not justified and fixed! We love A&W but can not respect them or contribute to them in any way if this is who they are going to allow at a "family...
