I filled my prescriptions at Mills Pharmacy located inside the Piggly Wiggly. I have been a customer there for approximately 10+years. Since Mill's pharmacy got new ownership the customer service has dropped significantly. when it was under the ownership of Robert Mills (he retired and sold the company after growing to 11 locations or more) it was the typical, what you would expect from a local business, super friendly, knew my name, place. Now it has some mean employees on the front end taking my order making me feel like I've done something wrong. Then the pharmacist that fills my order, or at least rings up my purchase, is always super nice. The Bluff Park location used to pick up prescriptions from the apothecary on a dependable schedule and even deliver to my house. Now it's supposed to be Tues and Thurs to get a delivery from the Mcalla location how compounds the medication I take. But you never really know if they will go on those days until you learn that they won't go get it on those days because "it is a trip they don't feel like taking", I'm out of my medication or will be on whatever day they may decide to go get it. In this situation I would appreciate a call letting me know when they did get it or when it's ready for pick up. No delivery, I don't have my own transportation and live only three miles from the Bluff park Location and 20 miles from the McCalla location. So the prices that were once worth paying since I could only get one of my scripts from a compounder anyway were kind of worth supporting a local business. Now I don't think it even is locally owned. It seems a lot of the locally owned pharmacies have sold out to corporate companies and I need to investigate the country involved in this ownership. That's on my to do list. The Piggly Wiggly in both locations, McCalla and Bluff Park are locally owned and I really enjoy shopping there. Sometimes the prices are high, that is because they have to spend more for them. Not so fun fact: That is because big box stores can buy so many at once they get a huge discount and even have certain products made just for the in a smaller package, tricking a customer that the price is lower when actually it's the item is smaller. Like Walmart and cereal. So some math sometime if you want to compare the price and actual weight of what you pay for. This process can ultimately influence the average pay rates in an area if the powers that be think retail prices justify employee earnings. And of course running your family member, or relative, or friend or yourself into debt while running local businesses that simply cannot compete. The Piggly Wiggly at Letson Farms has recently added Ace Hardware store inside and I love it. The other shops in the area include other Grocery Stores Restaurants and more and it's a great area. It is safe and clean for the amount of traffic going through and one could find everything they need without driving anywhere else, making shopping days much...
Read moreWe shop here at Piggly Wiggly. They have competitive pricing on most stuff, and sometimes, manufacturer's reduction prices that can't be beat! Last week I picked up 16oz of fresh strawberries for $0.78 each! They're usually like $2.50-$3.50! And a few months ago, I got fresh pineapples for $0.68 each! They're usually about $2-$3 each! They have fresh gulf seafood at a good price all the time and frequent specials, too. There is a Subway Sub shop, All American Pizza (meh), and San Antonio Grill, which is Tex Mex-steak. There are several other food places, McDonald's, Bojangles, a japanese food place...a couple of banks, a tax place and a few other small businesses, like a weight loss place. I give the whole place 4 stars, 3, really, but Piggly Wiggly is 5 stars, which brings the whole...
Read moreI really liked the prices and the quality of food i got. The employees have always been extremely nice and helpful. We usually get several pounds of shrimp from the meat department during the summer when we're cooking big family meals or even during football season when we're having people over and i can't say enough about how amazing the shrimp is. We get a couple pounds with one kind of seasoning on it and the other pound or 2 will either be steamed with no seasoning or have a different seasoning on it and its always seasoned and...
