I went into Coronado with the intention to buy a silver chain for a pendant I had at home. Upon asking for clarification about a price, the woman behind the counter told me that the chains I were looking at were all 14k gold, and all were at least $200. I found it weird that she had pointed it out in such a passive aggressive manner but didn’t think much beyond that. She kept this up the entire time my friends and I were shopping and did this to a group of young men who asked about mens’ jewelry. They did the right thing by walking out when they were greeted with attitude. I’m not sure if it’s because we’re all young and she assumed we didn’t have money to spend, but her attitude greeting customers was extremely rude and pretentious.
I also think it’s worth pointing out that I went into the store with two other friends, both white. I am a black woman. One was picking things up to look at them, and I wasn’t touching anything, but of the three of us, she was watching me the most intently. I did end up buying something, but I wouldn’t recommend going to this store when there are other jewelers around with potentially friendlier staff. I would return the chain I purchased if I had...
Read moreI had the worst experience with Coronado Jewelers. I took in 2 identical watches. Both needed battery replacements. These were watches I received from IBM for exceptional performance. 'IBM' was engraved on the back. Special. When I went to pick up the watches, they had only one watch. To make matters worse, the lady behind the counter was far more concerned about being right, then about my missing watch. She said 3 or 4 times that she wasn't there when I dropped off the watches. That, to her, was the most important piece of our conversation. She 'talked over' me consistently. She would check into it and get back to me. That was 8 days ago. I called and asked to speak with the owner. Not there. Haven't heard from him. One last thing. The one watch I did pick up was broken. The tick marks on the watch face, where the 11, 2 and 7 am/pm are, were missing. One lost watch, the other broken. No recourse. Not even a return...
Read moreI took my shark watch in a little while ago to get the band reattached and the battery replaced. When I went back in to pick it up I got 50 feet from the shop and it fell off so I took it back and they fixed it. I eventually got it back and it was fine and functional until I wore it in the ocean. Mind you shark watches are waterproof. When I got out water had gotten in. It turned out they had installed the seal wrong and water...
