Hungry Moose Market and Deli on the Mountain — Local services in Big Sky

TLDR; the grocers DEMAND TIPS, and they will guilt you if don’t tip them.

First of all, I walked up to a register and the clerk slammed a “register closed” sign in my face and walked away. He could’ve spoken to me but didn’t. So I go to the next register and after all of my stuff is scanned, I’m greeted with a tip screen. What service did you provide? I had to carry my own groceries, no one will speak to me that’s stupid. So I click on the no tip option. Then the guy asked me, “oh you’re gonna do cash?” ?!?!?!?!

Maybe it’s because I’m not from here, but I find this unacceptable for a grocery store. I didn’t tip them because no employee in that store needs me to pay them. Management, please retrain or FIRE them. Also please have a dress code so I don’t look at a man’s muffin top demanding I tip them. I will never go back to this sleazy establishment.

The Hungry Moose has a decent selection for the size of their facility, however, they have the worst service I have ever encountered! We ordered sandwiches one day and had to wait between 45 to 60 minutes for three sandwiches. We figured they were busy and went back the next day and ordered some lunch meat and cheese from their deli. We had to wait over 25 minutes (with hardly any customers in the store) and after the nearly half an hour wait they started to slice some turkey for us... We also ordered some more lunch meat but they stopped removed their gloves and started to wait on the people that came after me to make them coffee. I was so furious that I just left. I will never set foot in that store again. I would give 0 stars if it...

Probably the least useful review ever. It's the only market near the resort, any other market is a long drive through mountain roads. So you are going to go here even if there were a bunch of 2-star reviews, aren't you? Of course it costs more - every remote outpost will cost more due to basic economic conditions. But costs were not out of line, just a reasonable mark-up.
