My husband's Rolex was stolen from our home by a young man we had hired to wash windows and clean gutters in July 2018. We contacted the police when we found the watch missing but did not connect the young man with the disappearance. The young man sold the watch to Birmingham Coin about 5 days after he had stolen it. Because of Birmingham Coins procedure of always requiring proof of identification, right down to fingerprints, the sale was logged into a general system that immediately alerted the Birmingham Police. Greg at Birmingham Coin said it was the fastest response he had ever experienced. A detective called within 20 minutes! We not only were able to get a 10K watch back that had extreme sentimental value, but Greg at Birmingham Coin did a free appraisal so that we could put it as a ryder on our homeowners insurance so that we would never have this kind of loss again. We had them polish & clean the watch as well as rearrange links so it sits on my husbands wrist properly. This was done for a nominal fee by Birmingham Coin. We cannot praise highly enough the ethics & professionalism of this establishment! Plus there is a lot of very cool stuff to consider purchasing.... I now have my eye on a bauble or two! Thanks again to Greg and the whole team at Birmingham Coin! You're the BEST!!! And huge thanks and praise to the Birmingham Police! Our community is very fortunate to have such professionals working...
Read moreafter having an enthusiastic conversation on the phone with these guys, i took my father's 40 year old stamp collection in, as well as several good-quality collectibles. when i arrived, they told me--politely but bluntly--that the collectibles were "junk" and "worth nothing" and then they took about 10 minutes to look at the entirety of the stamp collection and offered me $160 for it and acted like they were doing me a favor. i thanked them kindly, took all my stuff and left.
six weeks later, with a little bit of patience and a lot of work on-line (both ebay and facebook), i've now sold the stamp collection for $2000, and about half the collectibles for $550. i think when i'm done with the remaining collectibles, i'll end up with another estimated $750, for a total of $3500.
$160 was their offer, versus the $3500 i earned. Do the math. What does this tell us ? what conclusions should you draw ? had i taken their very insulting offer, they would have flipped the stamp collection for a very handsome profit.
Yes it was a lot of work, and yes it required research and patience, but i have 3500 dollars in my pocket, and they don't. Consider this before selling...

As you gaze around the eclectic feeling you have...is reminiscent of old Hollywood movies where someone comes in and buys a rare book that contains secrets of intrigue and suspense.
