I've been shopping here for almost three years and have always been very happy with my experiences, but a particular experience today prompted me to want to share my thoughts. I certainly do not want to be a "Kevin," so-to-speak, regarding COVID precautions, but the management of this store is leaving some things to be desired. From close to the beginning of the pandemic over a year ago, it has been known by those assessing the evidence as it came out that fomite transmission (transmission of the virus by touching contaminated surfaces or objects) has never been a significant concern for the SARS-CoV-2 virus. For this reason, the policy barring the use of reusable grocery bags by checkout staff has never really made any sense, and the absence of such a policy is why I found myself trying to shop at Kroger a little bit more as they did not have such a policy in place, however I must admit that I found myself coming back here as the offerings in some areas were better. That being said, of course I respect that the store has the right to set policies as they see fit. On April 5th, the CDC issued an updated brief essentially reconfirming that the risk of fomite transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus was very low, and around this same time the signs at checkout as well as on the entrance announcing that reusable bags could not be used were taken down. This made me happy as I assumed that it was a case of the store getting with the program, realizing that this policy was not in keeping with evidence, and allowing us to begin to use our reusable bags again. When I brought my reusable bags to the store today for the first time in over a year, however, I was told by the woman at checkout that they still would not bag my purchases in them despite the signs stating this not being anywhere in the store anymore and all of the evidence and summaries thereof that this was never a necessary step that needed to be taken. At the same time, it has remained a constant that the main mode of spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is aerosolized droplets which are best prevented by masking, and while there are signs saying that masks are required, there is clearly no enforcement of this policy as many shoppers in the store are not wearing masks and there does not seem to be anyone saying anything to them about it.
I am all about keeping abreast of the latest scientific evidence as this is quite literally my job, however following the evidence is just as much about what is not needed as what is. The policy of not bagging groceries in reusable bags has never been in keeping with the evidence, and the reaffirmation of this in the last few weeks just solidifies that. The fact that it seems that this policy is still in place despite conspicuously taking down the signs announcing it is, in my opinion, just...
Read moreCan't remember the last time I was in this location, but now I know why. Not sure if they're serving baby chickens for their fried chicken or what but literally have never seen pieces so small before, or as dried out and so hard they were inedible, the breasts could have passed for jerky. If it was 8 o clock at night or something, I'd see how that could happen, but you'd think at 430 on a Thursday afternoon they'd have some sort of quality control. What little that was consumable, seemed to be salt infused, I don't get it good fried chicken isn't hard to do the cottage locations chicken is awful as well, guess it's how the chain does it! Avoid the "home made" tortilla chips in the produce section, unless stale chewy is your style then your in business. Also, if you're feeling down and need a good laugh, go check out their two for one deals. How do they stay...
Read moreI have been a loyal customer for over 40 years. The last few months everytime I am at Jewel I attempt to buy cottage cheese. However there is ALWAYS expired cottage cheese and sometimes it's the only option. I pull all the front ones out and the ones in back are all expired. I have brought this to the manager's attention everytime and still putting expired products out. This is more than unacceptable, it's reckless. I'm forced to take this matter to social media. Someone needs to warn the public not to shop there until something is done and no more expired items are on the floor for sale. We all know how social media can influence people. I'm tired of being ignored. Do they need someone to get sick before doing something? Jewel is liable if this happens. Especially because they have been warned not once not twice, jot three times but at LEAST...
