I am so pleased to have worked with Dan on our project. The audioscape is a key ingredient in our new backyard remodel - immersive high quality audio, perfectly balanced in all areas of our backyard takes weekend BBQ's, evening hangouts and chill Sunday mornings to a whole different level of enjoyment. Dan was extremely responsive in both providing design guidance as well as follow ups during install and setup. While the TruAudio and LEA systems are not inexpensive - the results speak (or sing!) for themselves. Our guests are just blown away from the experience of having balanced music across each zone in the backyard.
My setup is a combination of TruAudio 70V 6" landscape speakers, in-ground subwoofers (a MUST!), in-ceiling patio speakers and I was even able to incorporate my existing pool deck speakers in the design with Dan's help. The head-end is the VSSL 6 channel amp which allows me to have 6 airplay Zones active. I have a LEA 2 channel amp to allow for 70V landscape speakers and 70V in-ground sub. Dan set me up with a separate amp for my patio subwoofer, perfectly paired with my 4Ohm in ceiling outdoor speakers.
Fun trick: with this level of immersive surround audio, we have a lot of fun playing ambient environmental sound tracks like forest sounds, wildlife, and even the occasional jungle sounds (which keeps the dogs on their toes!). It's surprising how cool this makes the backyard feel :)
I couldn't be happier with the whole experience - the saying is true - you get what you pay for and the level of support from Dan made everything so much easier...
Read moreI recently purchased and installed a 6 channel (3 zone) amplifier for a customer in San Diego California. This amp was installed to replace a confusing set of BOSE SA-3 amps and remotes used to control source and volume for music in the back yard, patio, and garage.
When I started looking, I had a very specific goal in mind, a straightforward zone amplifier. I did not want a stereo receiver, I did not need five channels for a TV room, nor did I want to have to use different remotes for each zone.
From start to finish, the team at VSSL was a pleasure to work with. The support team was very responsive and answered all my questions before the purchase and provided great support during the configuration.
The physical installation was very straightforward, well labeled and the connectors made speaker connection very easy. Setup was new for me, as I was not familiar with google home, but we got through it. I wanted to group zones together, and could not figure out how to do it, but a quick call to the support line and they had me grouping in no time.
I was pleased to see that the X series supports Bluetooth, as I was concerned about casting from various devices such as tablets and phone. I need not have worried, the native integration with apps on both iPhone and Android devices with seamless.
I will look forward to more feedback from my customer, but bring and negative feedback from him, I will be installing this...
Read moreFrom Canada - A.6x Shipping was quick ~1 week Packaging was good - unit seemed well protected Instructions and setup were simple - outside of verifying and making the adjustments specified to my wireless network - ACTUALLY check these things first. Some provided modems/routers from Canadian internet companies (shaw) cannot have IPV6 disabled (required) and will need you to put it in bridge mode and have a 3rd party router (for me google/nest wifi I already used) which can have IPV6 disabled. Overall works as advertised Unit does have a fan that kicks for 10 seconds every hour or so and is noticeable so think about unit location if you have the choice Phoenix connectors are included (plug to put speaker wires in that plug into the unit. Seemed much more sturdy than the typical red and black spring tabs on a audio receiver) and I was able to merge a couple zones in my house together by putting 2 sets of speakers (4 speakers total = 8 wires) into 1 plug - a little hard on the fingers but doable. My house had 8 zones simplified down to 6 for this unit. My wiring allowed me to bypass the in wall controls (Russound - Ethernet controlled) and simply use my phone. Alternatives were a sonos amp for each zone (900$ per zone) or an apple tv for each zone (not android friendly) . Friends can come over and if they are on your wifi can play a song android / apple. works seamless. Not free...
