Moldly (not mildly)DISGUSTED! I have been a regular at Juice Hive so to have this happen really made me think this place should be shut down. I ordered several items, including a “Chia Oatmeal Cheer,” which is the oatmeal bowl. After walking around looking at the teas as I waited on my order I went back by the register and noticed the lady making my oatmeal bowl. First, I noticed she had one glove on and it was the one holding the knife while her ungloved hand was touching and holding the strawberries. What’s the point of the glove? I then noticed her picking strawberries right out of the plastic container they come in from the store, and I wondered if they had been washed prior to her picking them out. When she picked up a strawberry, she looked all around it, observing it very carefully (I had no idea why she was doing that). I decided to walk to the end of the counter to ask her if the strawberries had been washed. I didn’t want to come off as rude, but since I was going to be eating it, I was fine with however she took the question. As I get down the bar area to her, I noticed the entire container of strawberries is covered in mold. This is why she was checking the berries to make sure she pulled one out with no mold! I cannot believe this even happened, but it did. I told her I did not want that bowl. And she proceeded to open the little fridge beneath her and grab another container of strawberries (they were fully molded also), and she said she doesn’t have to use strawberries, that she can use blueberries if I wanted. I said no, I don’t want the bowls, I’m sorry. So she said, well, let me go turn off the oatmeal (in the back). I was back at the register by this point and she comes out with a huge container of fresh strawberries and said, I can use these fresh strawberries. My first thought was, why didn’t you do that to begin with? I told her no thank you, I would like to cancel those oatmeal bowls. When she was trying to figure out how to cancel my order, she said she wasn’t sure how to cancel because they rarely have a return. My suggestion if you choose to eat here, stand and watch your food being made..you may be getting moldy food and don’t realize it. I’m so thankful I saw this before eating that bowl! They have lost my entire family’s business forever - that...
Read moreI don't share the exuberance most guides have shown in their reviews for Juice Hive, but respect them. After looking at what seemed to be a syllabus of items available to customize my drink as I wished too, I followed up as expected by drinking what I had created. It had no taste and was in my opinion vastly overpriced. 40 years ago I started drinking "healthy" vitamin and mineral packed drinks. My first was wheat grass and I have gone forward from there. I have fresh healthy drinks out, whenever possible - only comprised of fresh fruit and or vegetables. I don't add anything to them. I believe many of the offerings at Juice Hive are unnecessary and helps bring the price of these drinks beyond what is necessary. Fortunately there are other shops in Bluffton I can go to for health drinks and in Hilton Head. I agree - the staff is very nice and accommodating, but do not know what every ingredient offered really is and or the benefits. However, you can read their explanations of product if you have time to try to understand them on papers they prepared to do so. Guess I am in the minority here and wish the Juice Hive the best of luck. It's owned by the Cottage which I used to love, but also think is overpriced and "Over the top" with many of their offerings. 4 to 5 years ago - it wasn't. It had different offerings for the most part and was more...
Read moreGood food although pricey. Mediterranean noodles close to $16 bucks but I'm will to pay if the food is good and fresh along with the customer service. The young lady at the counter was friendly however Liz (I believe the manager, older lady) is extremely rude. I simply asked the cashier, Jen to punch my card. I didn't realize it was for smoothies only even though I paid 16 bucks for food and a 3 dollar tip with carryout. Liz walked up, pushed her glasses up and yelled, "No!" Then she walked away. So disrespectful. We all have bad days but this takes the cake. I'm from here and even if I wasn't that is definitely NOT the customer service I paid for. I work in healthcare and have to smile continuously even when I want to yell at times. Highly disappointed in her behavior. Debating if ever...
