I have always loved this store but I had a very very uncomfortable experience today :( I went shopping for a graduation dress and a girl with a big family was using the dressing room next to me, so three older men were with her and they were all gathered around the door. I kept needing my mom to zip my dresses up so I had to open the door and i got very uncomfortable with grown men surrounding the area where I was changing. I discreetly I asked the girl that was in charge of the fitting room area (I believe her name is Leslie, she had black curly hair and glasses) if she could ask the men to step away from the doors or wait outside and she very loudly said "UNFORTUNATELY ITS 2025 AND WE CANNOT DISCRIMINATE" and refused to help a customer feel safe & comfortable. She also said that she didn't know if they were gay or straight and "a lot of men like to support their women" which all sounded like a lot of excuses. I did not need them to leave the dressing room, just to stop crowding around the doors so they did not see me not fully dressed. She offered a 15% off discount for "any inconvenience" but I did not want a discount, I wanted to feel safe and comfortable while trying on clothes. I get that its company policy to not discriminate but I think the safety of your female customers in a women's clothing store is more important than grown men's feelings. I've loved Altar'd State for years and this experience has turned me off from ever going back to this specific location. Don't come here if you're uncomfortable with grown men hanging out in the fitting rooms where young girls...
Read moreLooks and smells good on the outside but is actually just horrible!! I came here with a friend while shopping because we've both heard SO much from mutual friends about this store. While browsing, a store attendant was STARING ME DOWN, not doing her job fixing clothes, literally stopped. I mean STARING. It was weird but I decided to shrug it off. Then, I found a nice dress I wanted to try on, and the fitting room attendant told me, extremely loudly and rudely, like I couldn't hear or something, "NO BAGS INSIDE THE ROOMS!" She spoke slowly and loudly like I didn't speak English. I had no one to watch my bags, since my friend was in another changing room. I can't believe this, honestly. At that point I just left. Okay, sure, that's your policy- but why go about it like that? I felt... profiled? I can see this is a very morally-based,...
