Well, got there and they had never confirmed the reservation that I had just called in for 2 hours prior but I will say the girls at the front did make accommodations quickly for us.
Quirky place for sure, comically loud.
Ordered a martini, which is my go to drink. Titos, extra dirty. Server was kind. Brought it out. It tasted not so great, it took me a while to speak up but after my 3rd sip I did flag the server down and let her know it either tasted like it it had a excessive amount of vermouth added or was the wrong vodka. She took it back, and a gentleman came out insisting he made it correctly, with the drink I just sent back in his hand, convincing me he made exactly what I ordered and then told me he personally made it as I wanted it extra dirty and the other bartenders never make it right. I told him it tasted like mostly vermouth which then he responded he had added no vermouth cause he hates it. I mean, its not bartender preference, that is a how a typical martini is made so I was confused with the comment. I remained calm and just told him to leave it, based on this guy's demeanor I could tell he was taking it personally and it was more about him then me so I was just going to sit back and have him go. We'll. Tried to give it another shot, and I just told the server to take it and I didnt want another drink. She said okay and took the drink. The same guy comes back 5 minutes later with a new martini, saying he made it again exactly the same way and Insisted I take a sip. Dumb on my part because I did tell them no more drinks and I let his unwillingness to let it go and not take it personally get to me and felt bad for this guy who I realized who just basically gas lit me into thinking I was the issue. Kind of hilarious but drink tasted just a gross as the first one and the interaction with this guy left a disgusting taste in my mouth just as the drink did. Its a martini, its not hard, you added too much of something or gave me very bottom shelf vodka. Never seen this type of behavior. Just don't order the martinis from the weird...
Read moreCVI.CHE 105 finally made its way to Boca Raton, taking over the old California Pizza Kitchen spot at Mizner Park—and as a longtime fan of their Miami locations, I was excited to check it out. The ambiance is stylish and elevated, with that signature CVI.CHE flair. The lighting, decor, and layout feel fresh and vibrant, making it a great spot for a night out.
The servers at the bar were fantastic—friendly, attentive, and really working hard to make guests feel taken care of. Unfortunately, the front-of-house experience was a bit chaotic, possibly due to the restaurant being so new. When we arrived, there were seven hosts at the entrance, and strangely, none made eye contact or communicated with the people waiting to check in. Two different managers came by—one told us it would be just a few minutes, and the other said the wait was over 40 minutes. It was confusing and felt like the management team wasn’t on the same page.
We decided to give it a shot and found two open seats at the bar—and I’m glad we did. The food was delicious, as expected. But to be totally honest, the dishes didn’t quite live up to the Miami locations, which have consistently been top-tier in both flavor and presentation.
I’ve been a huge fan of CVI.CHE 105 in Miami—it’s one of my all-time favorite spots for Peruvian cuisine. So I really hope the Boca team tightens up the management and consistency in the kitchen, because the potential is definitely there. With a bit more polish, this location could absolutely measure up to its Miami...
Read moreThe food here was absolutely delicious - one of the best Peruvian restaurants I’ve taken my Peruvian wife to, all over the country. The service was, sadly, subpar.
We had a large group of 8 Peruvians (plus me. 😂) and everyone seemed very pleased with their meals - solid portions, classic dishes with inspired twists, lots of flavor… unfortunately the servers forgot to bring out the meals of several in our party so some of us began eating 15-20 minutes after others… and a couple didn’t receive their food until after everyone else was finished… and this was after having to stop and ask our server and other servers several times - it was clear the food would’ve never arrived had we not.
I’m still giving 4 stars because the food was great and I understand that this is a new location for CVI.CHE 105 and they’re probably still training staff and getting things figured out. We’ll go again some time when we’re in Boca - hopefully they’ll get it dialed in.
Back to the food. We tried many different ceviches (Trilogía De Ceviches) which were all fantastic and I was blown away by the flavors in the sauce of my dish - Ñoquis A La Huancaina Trufada - and have been requesting that my wife find a way to reproduce it since we went home to northern Florida, haha.
Again, the food was so good we will absolutely go back, but we really hope they their operational issues squared away. If they had been more established here and operated like this, we’d be looking at 3 stars. If they had been a little better with service we’d...
