Orne's Candy Store — Local services in Boothbay Harbor

Since July 4, 1885, Orne’s Candy Store has been a beloved Boothbay Harbor landmark. Originally opened by Addie Orne, the store brought a sparkle to Main Street from its early days selling ice cream and penny candy.

Today, stepping inside still feels like visiting the past—glass cases brimming with fudge, salt water taffy, chocolates, licorice, and timeless treats, many displayed in nothing-fancy antique dishes. The iconic fudge, perfected decades ago, remains one of the most popular items.

Candy stores are a dime a dozen, but sometimes you find one that's a little special.

When I walked into Orne's, it was close to closing time. The young lady working the counter was extremely courteous and helpful. She helped navigate me through all of the chocolate choices on display, and I left with about half a pound of various chocolates and gummy candies. Their needhams and orange creams are to die for.

What really stood out about this place, though, was their amazing in-store collection of Abraham Lincoln memorabilia. What...

Nice little candy store that is easy to miss. Not huge but a decent variety of confections sold by the pound.

We sampled 7-8 candies with a single piece of each to try dofferent ones out. Shop keeper was very helpful and attentive.
