I can't recommend EverPresent even though the people are friendly and send a lot of emails full of enthusiasm to let you know what is happening with every step of the conversion process--except the added costs. I took three VHS tapes in to be digitized for $104 ($19.99 per tape and $45 for the service--"safe handling" etc.) and after two and a half weeks picked up the tapes and was charged $171.97. I was not informed of the additional charges amounting to $67 even though I received more than fifteen emails (it's almost up to twenty now). The "Final Status Update and Quality Review" email explained what was done, which may well have been necessary, but provided no information about the cost. I made the mistake of not realizing that even for that amount of money, you don't receive a three-dollar flash drive (the images in your emails don't pertain to your order). They tell you to download your files from a “free” app which of course requires you to set up an account and navigate a webpage. The catch here is that if you don't remember to cancel this app, they will continue to charge your credit card after two months. Of course, they don't tell you how much that will cost unless that information is buried somewhere.
A little advice on costumer relations: credit cards are the property of the customer, not the merchant, and the customer should be consulted before additional charges are imposed. Additionally, the “free” app, which is part of the $104 charge, should automatically be canceled after sixty days with the option of continuing if the customer decides to do that. Don't send more than three emails and they should only contain pertinent information about what needs to be done and what it will cost. Otherwise people will ignore them (unless that is your intention).
The conversions were well done, although the original sound was not enhanced. Despite numerous emails, EverPresent doesn't tell you what you actually need to know and will add and continue to add charges to your credit card without your...
Read moreMy siblings and I used EverPresent to digitize our family's collection of home video tapes from childhood. It was amazing to be able to rediscover and preserve these tapes which we hadn't been able to view for years. The quality was great and the dropoff and pickup process was very smooth. The only disappointing thing was the fees. I was expecting more generous customer service for large orders since EverPresent is a more local and family-owned company, but their fee structure is very strict and they won't allow any flexibility for stacking discounts (e.g. discount for a larger order and for a repeat order within two weeks). I wish they had made their fee structure clearer at the beginning and given me better advice about which package would be the best fit for my personal project. Overall, using EverPresent was significantly more expensive than using a big chain service, but they were a trustworthy service to entrust our family memories so it ended up being...
Read moreI was extremely satisfied with the crisp, clear quality of all my photos and documents. My photos and documents were older, some were more than 100 years old, and they scanned with exceptional clarity. I am more than pleased with EverPresent's efforts and performance. Afterward, my precious photos and documents were returned to me in excellent condition. It was clearly apparent that they had been handled with great care. I give five stars to EverPresent, but they deserve a 10...
