I recently visited this new sushi spot with a friend, excited to try something new, but unfortunately, I left feeling underwhelmed. While the space is stunning and clearly well-thought-out, the food didn’t live up to the expectations. I’m more than happy to spend top dollar for a flavorful omakase that’s not just about flashy, over-the-top ingredients, but this place didn’t quite deliver on that front.
At this point, your money might be better spent a couple of doors down at UNI, where the omakase feels more refined. I believe the restaurant is owned by the same people behind Karma, who aren’t Japanese, and I’m curious if that plays a role in the style and presentation of the dishes here. The food came across as more of a show than a celebration of true flavors, which is a bit of a letdown.

The service was very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable, much more well run than you might expect for only being open a short time. They had bar seating only when we were there and the atmosphere was excellent, watching the dish preparation and interacting with the chefs. Pretty classic high end sushi restaurant stuff. We have been to many of the better and well regarded sushi places in Boston, generally thinking they did not compare to experiences we had elsewhere. This place is an exception, meeting the quality we had hoped for. It is expensive but well worth the price given the high quality food and luxurious ingredients....
Read moreYoshida is the newest addition to the Back Bay Restaurant scene and it already just might be one of the best! Yoshida's interior and wares from the plates to the wine glasses are of outstanding quality. The Hermes plate that sits in view and the Hermes plates that are used during Sushi service are reminders of just that. Chef Gung and his team are putting out some beautiful and delicious food and the beverage selection is perfectly tailored to the menu's powerful, unique, and complex flavors. The service team is expert in their hospitality and service mechanics. The professionalism is clear and apparent during your stay. I highly recommend Yoshida for a world-class, traditional...
