First & Main Design Market — Local services in Bothell

Do yourself a favor and don't walk away, RUN AWAY!!!! They deserve no stars, but since google won't allow that I'll have to settle with one. Had 5th and Main fully furnish 3 rooms for a brand new house and was promised all the items would be delivered, installed and set up on the same day for a "grand reveal". What it was like:

I had to demand my items. Ordered in June and finally got the last of my items in November. Was promised 4-8 weeks. Clearly this deadline was missed and I was living in a home without furniture. They made ME pay for additional movers to get my items to me bc it wasn't convenient for them to make multiple runs. The majority of items were broken or scratched. When we said something about it they just threw there hands up in an "oh well" manner The furniture was too large to get up the stairs (which they were aware of the size of the stairwell seeing they had the actual design from the builders). The people delivering the items didn't have any tools to take it apart AND required help to not only take the items apart and put back together, but also to carry the furniture up the stairs They were supposed to have all the electrical appliances (new lighting), curtains, wall paper, etc installed. I was told that it was a "package deal" and when push came to shove, they just handed over the items was given a list of people to call to have it installed (which cost even more money - - - did I mention this was part of the "package deal" that we got?) I could go on, but the above should be enough to convince you to stay away. My partner NEVER said he was pleased or happy with everything as I can prove there are multiple emails back and forth noting our displeasure with the company and the way they operate

No refund, no discount, no apology, nothing was offered. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Edit* Funny story...... one of the lamps that we paid for that was over $200 broke in less than 3 months (right at the seem). Called the store and they offered to "help order another one." The irony is we had the item number and found the EXACT SAME LAMP at WALMART for over $100 less than what we originally paid. High quality products? Ha. What a joke.

In regards to the lame response from the owner below. Note all the points were conveniently side stepped and not directly addressed. For example, they used COVID as an excuse as to why things took so long. The point was that they were unwilling to release the furniture that they had until ALL things ordered arrived knowing things were delayed bc of COVID. Clearly they don't care about their customers....

We came into first and main back in early August to have built in and laundry room cabinets made. We brought in a design we liked, they said they could do it and the price was right. Unfortunately, it all went downhill from here.

First off, they promised they would be done by late September. They sort of finished in late November.

Upon taking our order, they didn't put anything in writing and honestly they didn't measure much, but promised it would turn out great.

Our cabinets arrived mid-October (already two weeks behind). They got most of our built-ins done that week, they incorrectly ordered a cabinet that would have covered our exhaust fan in our laundry room and they also failed to order enough shelving. A few weeks pass without much communication.

They came back two weeks later to build our laundry shelves again, but they only finished 2/5 shelves, they built in our washing machine so tight it touched the sides (we had to call appliance repair due to a loud banging noise in our washer, only to learn that the side’s of the machine can’t touch the cabinets).

On their third try, they hand painted some shelving to finish the job vs. ordering more from the cabinet manufacturer, but the paint didn’t match and it's still sticky a few weeks later.

At the end of the day:

1. We have mismatched painted cabinets and many of them are not leveled or adjusted.
2. They didn’t finish the mill work (left it unpainted, I finished it myself)
3. Because they didn't measure and because they didn't use fillers on the base cabinets, the cabinet doors hit our trim and only open about 75% of the way.
4. They were also super unprofessional. They made us feel like they were doing us a favor for trying to make everything right (re-ordering multiple times, when it was their fault for not measuring to begin with). To make matters worse, Candy our sales person, told us several times this would never happen if she ran the place. She also said she would never let this happen for her high end clients in Medina or Mercer (not sure what this even meant, I guess if we were richer they would have done a better job).

I would stay away and find someone that does better work, completes their work and is more professional. Felt like $13k down the...

My experience with First and Main has been nothing short of extraordinarily wonderful. I have been in and out of the store many times over the past year or so and have been greeted by a staff member within 10 or 20 seconds of walking through the door every time. Just like Cheers where everybody knows your name. They care about those little details.

My designer is Ashley. She is outstanding. She has designed my living room, dining room, entry way, plus kitchen lighting and some decor details. She is uniquely talented with an ability to gain a truly accurate feel for the vibe you are after to make your home exactly what you want. Best I could tell she does this by carefully listening to you as well as gleaning insight from your non-verbal reactions to items you are shown. She’s quite incredible. Michael is great with behind the scenes operations. But he is also a highly talented artist. Under Ashley’s design, he created two beautiful acrylic pieces on canvas to perfectly complement the look of my living room. Kevin, the wood artisan extraordinaire, made a custom shelf for my dining room that is simply perfect for the spot. And finally, Pierce and Kimberly, behind the counter, offer fun and friendly professional handling of the paperwork.
