Dr didn’t show up for pre-op, consent obtained after medicated, barbaric surgery, poor outcome, victim blaming, and preying on vulnerability after poor outcome to make another sale. *The entire support staff at Aura was kind, competent, and caring.
I scheduled medial thigh lipo. My goal was to be able to confidently wear shorts and show my meaningful tattoo. During the consult the provider did warn that I may have redundancy, but that he would be mindful of that and not remove so much fat that it would be an issue. No other concerns on his part.
5 wks prior to the procedure, I called with questions, ready to cancel, pending answers. I asked if I should come in to discuss. The following day I received vm saying Dr doesn’t think your concerns are issues. I decided that I would keep my pre-op appointment and ask in person.
I went to my pre-op and was in the room for about 40 min, while the nurse reviewed instructions. She said the Dr. had been involved in a minor car accident and she expected him to come in. He WAS in the office, but was making calls to insurance, etc. regarding his accident. I declined to sign consent because I still had concerns. I expressed concern over outcome and was assured that the outcome was ALWAYS better.
Upon arrival, 8/30, I was instructed to take both Xanax and Norco. It was at least an hour after that before I finally met with the dr. At that point I felt less anxiety, but also like I had no option to back out. Aside from getting last assurance that I would not die, I let my worries go and signed the consent.
The procedure began quickly and I was not numb. The pain was immediate. I felt confused because, based on what I had read, this part should have been little to no pain, just pressure. I spoke up because I had many painful conditions in my past, and I found this pain to be intolerable. The dr remarked something to the effect that this was something that I asked for. I cried and my body shook, as the nurse held my hand under the drapes. As the dr moved to the 2nd leg he said there may be less pain because it’s had longer to get numb, but it was relatively unchanged. Was this expected? Could anything be done? Stop? More numbing agent? It felt like a nightmare.
My last appointment was at almost 6 wks post op. I asked about the sagging skin, lumpiness, and fact that I was still experiencing pain. I was advised that this was pretty close to my end result. The dr proceeded to site reasons for the poor outcome that all blamed me. He asked me if I thought that I had achieved my goal of wearing shorts. “Well,” I started…before he said, “I’ll tell you no, that I don’t think you did.” He then proceeded to tell me that he had a new machine that might help improve the appearance. If I paid that day, he would give me a discount. I felt blamed, humiliated, and desperate to try to fix the ugly. In this moment of vulnerability, I paid another $1600 and went to my car and shed some hot tears of humiliation.
Ultimately I decided to stop throwing money at this dr and focus on healing. I canceled the 4 sessions, with a warning that if I rescheduled I would not get the discounted price. I scheduled an appointment with a lymph drainage specialist in an attempt to heal.
The appearance of my legs has not improved. I have sagging at the tops of my thighs, lumps, and a deep divot in my leg, where the cannula was inserted. I have stains of bruises, which have left a mottled mess, and part of my beautiful tattoo looks like a flower that has grown a mold. I’m still baffled by why this procedure felt so inhumane, especially since my intolerance for a longer procedure was listed as a reason for poor outcome. I feel traumatized and still tearful even remembering it.
My last mention is the expense of it all. 4000 for the procedure, 850 (So far) for the lymph drainage, 5000 for a tattoo that may be permanently altered?, 40 hours off of work, and ugly legs.
This is money that I did not just have. It took a year and a half of saving to get my tattoo and the liposuction. It was a...
Read moreAgain, I'm updating my review. I received a series of Exion treatments with Kerri. By far this was one of the most comfortable procedures and I didn't need any down-time. This is a treatment that can be done any time of the year too. I'm already seeing very positive changes in the tone, texture and plumpness of my skin. So multiple improvements for my investment! The changes are very natural looking and I'm getting a lot of very positive comments from friends, and even strangers, about how good my skin looks. At 64 years old, I think this has been one of the most successful treatment I've ever had!
"The neck doesn't lie...but Keri sure gets it to fib quite a bit". I'm very impressed and pleased with the results I've gotten with the laser treatments. I plan to complete the series and I'm looking forward to continued improvement. Last week I had treatments with both Nicole and Stephanie and I could not be more pleased. I received treatments from my forehead to my chin, and feel my entire face has been rejuvenated! The advice I get for the most natural looking updates is why I keep coming back to this practice! I'm updating my review, I'm now 61 yo, to include recent treatment done by Stephanie the new PA at the practice. after careful evaluation she suggested filler for my lower face and jaw. The technique she was so comfortable and I had no bruising, despite the fact that I received 3cc's of filler. The outcome is subtle, but such an improvement! I fell like I got the "facelift in a bottle". I always get the best advice from everyone at Aura and now I can add Stephanie to the list of practitioners able to help be get the best results! I am 60 yo and have been going to Aura for 5 years. I get Botox & fillers with Nicole, RN, and Sculptura & scar repair with Dr. Roesner. I'm starting BBL treatments soon and Forever Young laser procedures as maintenance. All of my treatments have been exceptional and everyone has been very honest about recommending procedures to meet my goals, possible side effects, and likely outcomes. I've referred several friend that have had the same experiences. People comment that they can't believe I'm really 60......"What are you doing?" they ask! I do "tell all" and they comment that I look so natural, not overdone or surprised! I'll continue going to Aura and tell all my friends! I couldn't be happier!!
Update: Yesterday I received an Aquagold treatment by Nicole Roesner, RN and couldn't be more pleased with the results. This is the extra finish I've been looking for! The microchannel application allows for treatment with Botox, fillers and hyaluronic acid to more delicate areas and the outcome is a more detailed and refined, finished appearance. I feel significantly more refreshed and friends have already commented about how great I look in a very natural, not overdone, way! I'll continue to recommend Aura to my...
Read moreDr. Roesner performed my surgery in July, and I could not have asked for a better experience. The man’s results speak for themselves, but from when I met him in April, I knew he would be my surgeon. He spent roughly an hour with me at my consultation, answering all of my (million) questions, drawing diagrams to show me what the procedure would be like, and talking to me about what I wanted from the surgery. He is straightforward but empathetic, and he knows his craft. The surgery went off without a hitch, my recovery has been smooth, and I am so happy with my results; as cliché as it sounds, I feel like a different woman.
I would be remiss not to mention the other fantastic people at Aura who helped me a ton! Kristine, Dr. Roesner’s medical assistant, is warm and kind, making you feel welcome immediately. His nurse, Tanya, is a great caregiver; she’s so generous with her time and knowledge about the entire process, from prepping for surgery to scar care in the months afterward. Kerry, Aura’s surgical coordinator, was so informative and helpful in getting everything through insurance and scheduled, and her positivity was infectious. All of the front desk staff have been friendly and kind as well.
I cannot recommend this office more highly. Treat yourself; you will be so happy you chose Dr. Roesner as your surgeon and Aura as...
