So the atmosphere is certainly welcoming, servers and hostess were friendly and attentive. Drinks were okay, not amazing but the selection gives for a consistent option. However the food was very disappointing. I had the two step, my boyfriend the buffaquiles. For the two step- which is a basic American breakfast, pancakes, eggs, choice of meat (I ordered sausage) and breakfast potatoes- the pancakes came out flat and overly soft, likely from the pancake battet being overincorporated, the fix would be to be okay with a few clumps of the dry mixture when mixing the wet and dry parts of the batter. The potatoes were seasoned but they looked as if they were cooked overlong in the same pan which gave a lot of overcooked clumps. The sausage links I can't tell if they are house made or bought from a provider but they came out soulless. At first bite theres a small of sage... and then nothing, no salt, no fatty meaty flavor, nor herbs or spices, it was bland. Either allow for some salt and falt in the sausage if they're housemade or look for a new substitution if bought. Eggs are eggs the quality is good for eggs, just as a customer be sure to salt them yourself, I take this establishment caters also to people who need the control on their sodium and sugar intakes. Take on the buffaquiles.... so by the name these are the restaurants take on a Mexican breakfast dish called chilaquiles. Which is supposed to be tortilla chips tossed in a pan with a salsa mix. This coats and bakes the flavors of the salsa into the chips themselves. Then it's top with cotija cheese, chunky salsa or Pico, cilantro and egg. However what my boyfriend got was more like nachos. Just plain tortilla chips with chili, blended cheese, and an egg on top that dressed it as a breakfast item. That it's American chili is fine if that is going to be the spin on chilaquiles but it should be infused into the chips rather than serve as a bed for the chips. And this too the flavors were off, not enough red pepper in it to lend the bright savoryness that comes on chilaquiles. The fix here would be to understand what is the dish you are trying to recreate. If it's gonna be breakfast nachos, lean into it and make breakfast nachos, but if it's a slightly more complicated dish respect it even if you put a spin into it.
So while The Buff has points for the friendliness of the staff and the composure of its atmosphere it falters heavily in its food which as a restaurant should be it's biggest selling point. Until this is improved customers should come with extremely tempered expectations, or try some of the smaller style breakfast spots that do surprise and deliver...
Read moreMy wife and I were visiting Boulder for a couple of days and on 8 Sep 2025, we opted to have brunch somewhere within the vicinity. I did a Google search of the area and discovered this little gem. In fact, I recall seeing this restaurant a month ago (via Google) whenever I was in the area again, but unfortunately, I wasn't in the mood to try it then. But alas, here we are writing a formal review of this restaurant.
Living in Las Vegas, it's not that common to see someone park far away and walk to a restaurant, but that's what we did for this place. We parked at the King Soopers down the road because the weather was nice and I always enjoy walking around after I eat to help with the digestion process. Why is this relevant to this review? It's to inform you that I'm not 100% certain of the parking situation at the restaurant aside from the one parking lot at the restaurant itself...which wasn't full when we arrived.
When we walked in, the restaurant wasn't really busy (go figure since the parking lot wasn't that full)...I think a lot of it has to do with it being a typical work/school day. Regardless, I was ecstatic to see this because I was starving and didn't feel like waiting to get seated. After we got seated, our primary server, Anthony, provided us with water and informed us that he'd return to take our order. Throughout the dining experience, he did a remarkable job; he was attentive, professional, and operated efficiently. So kudos to him and the business for validating a good customer service mantra.
We ordered coffee, Egg White Veggie Omelette w/Potatoes and Wheat Toast, Valley of the Sun Omelette w/Canadian Bacon, English Muffin, and Fruit, side of Pancakes, and side of Bacon. Everything tasted magnificent to which I had to really chew each bite slowly to ensure it wasn't just my hunger assessing the food quality - it was actually that good. Between the food temperature, texture, flavor, and quantity of ingredients, it's no wonder why this business has a significantly higher rating on Google.
The price-to-quantity/quality ratio was reasonable and I highly respect this business for their continued support to the active men and women of the Armed Forces, including its Veterans - thank you for that! I can honestly say that this restaurant is worth the visit and even though it was just my first time, I'm confident that the unparalleled quality, quantity, and service is evident 100% of the time. I highly recommend this restaurant...

Long answer: I arrived a few minutes before open, and there were already a few people congregating by the door, even in the cold; so I knew this place would be a hit. But don’t worry, they had plenty staff on hand to take care of the early bird crowd, and they even opened the doors before schedule, in order to let customers wait the next few minutes inside the warmth. There are nice seating arrangements, and the ambiance is very calming. Every one of the employees that I encountered were polite, friendly and happy; that really uplifted my mood and sets the stage for a great day. The food options are so vast. And they will cater to your diet needs. I overheard my waitress discussing menu options with another couple close by; she described diet possibilities clear and slowly, so they could feel comfortable asking for things just the way they need. As for me, it was pretty simple: breakfast tacos! The name suggests the food is also simple, but the tacos came with an assortment of quality ingredients and just the quantity I was looking for; they were ‘simple’ alright, ‘simple’-y incredible! The hot sauce in the picture was a gift from a friend, but they had there own options (don’t ask them about mine, haha). The food came out super quick, and it was OH SO delicious. I cannot say enough great things about this place! I don’t know if I mentioned this or not, but the service was phenomenal as well. I was treated kindly, listened to well and checked on often.
What more could you ask for?
