Ocean State Job Lot — Local services in Bourne

Very confusing how the 40% off for seniors worked, which you would receive on a card. You needed to spend $20 to get the deal. Got to the register, I was advised that coupon items did not qualify for the 40% on first attempt. Advised I needed $3 more to qualify for the 40%. Went back into the store. Next cashier said items rang up at $51 where previously it was $15 and change. Next person said it was $31. Value of purchase was about $22 and change. That was a quick calculation by adding up the amounts in even dollar amounts. What a confusing shopping experience. Staff did not know how this deal worked. Advice to store get your system people to program Deals correctly and advise cashier's how deal works. I left the store without what I went to purchase and will not return anytime soon as it's not worth the hassle. Cashier's were nice but clearly did not understand this confusing deal. I LOVE this location! Many years ago my dear friend, who was like a mother to me, had invited me to come with her to Job Lot. I had never heard of this place and had agreed to go with her even though I already had a job but figured it wouldn't hurt to see other positions that might interest me. She quickly cleared my misunderstanding and explained to me that Job Lot is not a job fair but a store that sells all types of great items. Ample parking for sure and very convenient location just off a roundabout. The store was over stocked with boxes everywhere, but that is what they are known for, so that is not a negative. Of course we had trouble looking for a particular item, simply because they have so much random stuff. The staff we found was very kind nice to the patrons. I loved the fresh plants they had outside too. Could be cleaner but over all a good discount...
