I have been to Hobby Lobby three times in the past 2 weeks, mostly for sewing needs. I'll admit that I was hesitant at first, due to their very Christian stance. I honestly feared that everything sold would be influenced, in some way, by their beliefs. And, I'm sure, to an extent, this is true. However, what I feared - everything having a crucifix or Bible verse on it - was an unnecessary concern. Hobby Lobby looks just like any other hobby and crafts store. The store is neat, clean, orderly, efficient and the staff is friendly and helpful. Their prices are comparable with other similar stores in Bozeman unless what you are looking for is on one of their month long sales. Then, their prices are much better. In some departments, like home decor and furnishings, their prices are far lower than you will find anywhere except Wal-Mart.
For hobbyists like me who sew, quilt or craft, Hobby Lobby is an okay choice for supplies. The only drawback to Hobby Lobby is the limited brand choices they offer for their products. For instance, in thread, they carry 2 brands. Their fabric selection is not bad, but it is smaller than JoAnn's and quite limited unless you are looking for quilting material. Of that, they have plenty to choose from. Clothing material choices are limited to a dozen, or fewer, choices of patterns, colors and styles per fabric type. Their notions and findings are limited to one or two brands as well. They carry just about anything you might need for sewing, but you only get one or two brand choices. They also carry sewing machines, but again, only one brand. In short, if you are a quilter or know exactly what you need and know they carry the brand you want, Hobby Lobby isn't a bad choice.
Personally, I go to Hobby Lobby because it is convenient (in the old Hastings shopping center), comfortable (since I would prefer to avoid large crowds) and their prices are the same as, or better, than similar stores...
Read moreI LOVE Hobby Lobby and the selection of things offered, but after working here for 3 months, I will do my best not to shop at Hobby Lobby ever again.
I had to FIGHT for time off for my wedding (just enough to get everything ready, get married, and have a few days of honeymoon) and when i returned nearly every staff member was upset with me for getting time off, and many talked about me behind my back.
Linda, a CSM, was incredibly rude to me from the first day, and when I became a CSM alongside her it only got worse. She is consistently unkind to customers and employees, and was eventually was very difficult to even be around. She drove me to tears at least once a week, usually more like three times.
Multiple issues with other employees came up, and no management would do anything about it… they instead told us to go straight to corporate and hope they care enough to help.
Many of the employees were amazing and I love(ed) dearly- Barb is amazing and kind, Carmella is SO good at her job and is very fun to chat with, among others… but I could not continue to be treated like garbage, even though I genuinely enjoyed the job itself. In High-school I worked at the Hobby Lobby in Billings and enjoyed both the job and the people much more than in Bozeman.
All in all, I recommend just not going and definitely not working there, shop elsewhere or order online if possible… and find a job environment that is HEALTHY and...
Read moreWhat's going on with this store? I never thought I would rate this store lower than a 5?? This store was always well stocked and organized. I can't say that anymore. Prior to the official christmas season, there were pallets everywhere, to where you couldn't even get to the shelves. People would have to back up to get through isles because there was only room for 1 person going in one direction. There were numerous carts full of product, that were also blocking shelves. I have had to return several times looking for wood crafts not being stocked. The other day, i have never seen the yarn isles so empty. I will have to return again. I hope this doesn't happen again when you transition into...
