I found a sofa sleeper I liked and we negotiated/discussed current sales for a while before I told him I would be back after thinking it over. (I always need time before making a big purchase to weigh my options and prices)
I left the store and did some online research of Ashley Furniture and other people's prices in case I decided to buy direct or go somewhere else. It turned out Billy's price was much cheaper than other stores and even Ashley's price. I went back into the store a few hours later and decided to move forward with the purchase. I even found the sleeper a little cheaper, before the sales discount, on the Furniture Gallery Website (which Billy respectfully price matched).
After the sale: Some things you need to understand before you continue reading this part of the review. You'll realize that Furniture Gallery isn't a big corporation or chain. Because of this, they cannot be as quick or agile with shipping/delivery as the big stores. I decided to continue with the sale because Billy seemed like an honest good guy and the price was right for the quality of the product. The delivery time estimate to get the sleeper from Ashley Furniture to their store was about a week and ultimately it ended up being about 1.5 weeks. The delivery from Furniture Gallery to my apartment took a few days extra due to other scheduled deliveries (I think they have only 1 delivery truck/crew). This wasn't a huge deal for me because I understood they have a smaller group of people working for them. I was really happy that every time I called Billy for an update (even on Sunday) he picked up his phone and talked to me. Again, he was always very nice every time. That made this transaction better for me.
Day of Delivery: The delivery people showed up in their unmarked white truck and were very nice with great attitudes. It was raining outside but the sleeper sofa was packaged really well and the rain didn't get to it). Before delivery, I had measured our building's elevator and found it was too small for the sleeper sofa. So, I guided them up the stairwell to get the sofa up into my apartment on the 3rd floor. It was a tight fit after the stairwell to get the sofa into my apartment but these guys knew exactly what they were doing and made it work. Once they got it into my apartment within about 10 minutes they had everything setup. They hung around for me to do a personal inspection of the sofa and mattress. I noticed that Ashley Furniture (not Furniture Gallery) made a mistake and included a very thin and weak spring mattress in the sleeper sofa instead of a memory foam one (everywhere online it says this sleeper comes with memory foam by default). I then called Billy and he had me take some photos of the sleeper sofa and the serial/model numbers. He ordered me a replacement mattress from Ashley. I thanked the delivery drivers and they were on their way. Fast forward a week later, I exchanged the spring mattress for the foam mattresses at no cost and all was good. The quality of the memory foam mattress was far superior to the spring.
Conclusion: These are honest guys. If mistakes happened, they took care of me. They gave me a great deal on this sleeper sofa and even beat the price of the manufacturer. Everyone I met or talked to during this was very nice. Like a previous review, the only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I had to call them about delays instead of them reaching out to me first. I called and he said “oh yes they are in” asked when I would get them. His answer was “when do you want them?” I said today or tomorrow. He said the delivery truck was out but he would check to see when he could have them delivered and call me back. I never heard from him but a few hours later I got a call. It was from the guys on the delivery truck and they were outside my house. Handles needed to be installed on the drawers. The screws were less than 1 1/2” and one of the guys used a power drill to screw them in. Well he stripped all the screws and broke one of the drawer pulls! They told me I would hear from Bill! I could go on and on with Bill never returning a phone call. Well here it is May17 and still no drawer pull! I have threatened to sit in the showroom and let everyone know. I bought furnitures from this man for $3567.34, he told me I could pay every two weeks until I finished paying the total cost of $3567.34. He never mentioned a third party company with which he does financing with. Months later after paying almost $5000 worth of furnitures I called my bank to put a stop payment. Few months later, I find out my name went into collection because I was supposed to pay $3567.34 by 3 months. If that amount wasn’t paid in full within the 3 months, the cost of the purchase would be doubled. That information was never relayed to me ever. In fact Bill said oh this is America, you can buy credit and pay over time, only with a small interest. I never signed a credit/financing paper. I never signed or initial next to any term, because he never discussed that with me.. so this transaction was done without me knowing and now they are claiming I still owe them some $2000 and change more to close the account.
