The last couple of time going to the target location at Plaza at Brandon Town Center, I feel like I have been harassed and followed by loss prevention and regular employees have treated me differently . I respect that they are doing there jobs but itās come to the point where I feel targeted because I am a African American female with short hair. Now this situation has happened numerous times but last two times has been so blatantly obvious that itās upsetting. This first time of the last two time this has happened, I had been in the store for about a good hour and a half just looking around getting home improvement ideas when I started noticing several employees asking if I need help with anything. And that is fine, if they had asked me from the minute I walked in the store. But when I go to check out I notice two female employees stand close to my self check out point in my direction and whispering. Then they switched out with two male employees one regular associate and one security guard. And they are doing the exact same thing but I can hear the security guard say make sure they are scanning the right item and not switching tags. At the time I was checking out there was maybe one other customer that I noticed. This last incident i came in to get a swimsuit and makeup products. I find two swimsuits I would like to try on and go to the fitting room. I tell the employees I have two items and she walks me to the dressing room. Which Any other time they would say ok and just let me pick a room. But this time no I was walked and I was the only customer in the dressing room at the time. After trying on swimsuits and getting the one I like. I make my way to the makeup department. As I am walk I notice the same security guard from my first experience talking to a loss prevention employees in regular clothes. As I am walking in the makeup department another loss prevention guy is walking towards me but then turns around really quick. As I am in the aisles getting my makeup product the security guard would randomly be in that same aisle as me or near by. So when I go to get my final makeup product I notice the security guard at the end cap of the aisle I am in. This is where I had enough, so I approach the security guard and say can I ask you a question. He says yes. Basically I told him that the last several times Iāve been in the store I noticed that I am being followed by you guys meaning loss prevention. And I told him that is fine and I respect you guys doing your job. I went in and further explained that I used to work in retail and I understand that your just doing your job. But I am a firefighter now and I have to much to loss over stealing an item and that I have to much integrity for that. I also told him that I come to this tagert Regularly and spend my hard earned money here. He did not say much I went back to get my last item. The security guard maybe scanned one more item and then left the area. I did not want to come on here and give a negative review or to get people in trouble but I feel like I'm being treated differently based on my appearance. Because when I come into the store with my firefighter uniform or dressed up I am allowed to shop like any other normal customer, but when I come into store with workout clothes on, I am being stocked by loss prevention . And this is a huge issue for me because this is the tagert closest to my house and I just genuinely loved...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMyself and my daughters were waiting in line for check out. It was a little busier than usual due to it being the day before Valentine's Day. There was a staff member (Caucasian lady) who was sweeping up and assisting throughout the lines. They opened the register to our right and she glances around looks at Myself and my daughters and points to a Caucasian couple who were walking up and said they can come over to that particular register. My daughter (11 yrs of age) walks over and signals for me to come since we were waiting. The employee turned and gave us a look as if she was disgusted. I politely told my daughter to come back because she specifically looked past us and the other black couple waiting in front of us to select who to check out. I asked another cashier who made eye contact with me for a manager. I spoke with the manager and advised her what happened and asked about their policy all while trying to keep my composure in front of my babies. She advised the issue would be addressed. It is sad and disheartening that this still exists in 2023. I was embarrassed not just in front of other people but in front of my girls. My 10 year old asked me why did she look at us and not pick us. I said dont worry about it and dont let it bother you. Had it not been for her singling out someone I would feel differently, but that wasnt the case. I do know I will never shop Target again and will continue to share my experience if this was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUPDATE: Robert, one of the managers reached out to me about my experience and went above and beyond to make right the wrong that occurred the day I made an attempt at returning a gifted product. He was an effective and empathetic communicator and in addition to assisting with the return and in-store gift card/credit, Robert went out in the godforsaken heat with me to help me cart the heavy item and make the exchange in a timely fashion. Great customer service! The kind that hopefully becomes contagious. Thank you again Robert!
Horrible customer service at the Returns desk. Philip the Manager had no empathy or care in the handling of my return of a product I received as a gift - a big boxed item that I was told I would receive in-store credit of max $100 without a receipt even though the item was worth over $300. The person next to me was also denied for an Apple product for whatever reason. Even after calling Corporate, they said it was up to manager discretion, and manager said no. Seems like denial of returns is a priority at Target when you don't have a receipt even when corporate says exceptions can be made but don't have control of how each store is managed. Save your receipts even if an item is gifted or just save the trouble and shop and ask your friends for Amazon...
